Guild Wars 2

Sadly, I am addicted to reading game forums. And like most addictions, it’s terribly unhealthy and rots my soul.

To reduce the damage on my faith in humanity, I wish there was a sub-forum here which is heavily moderated and deletes/bans all whines, “suggestions”, and most “opinions”.

I would like such a subforum to be a place where people can share information and calmly discuss strategy, builds, videos etc, without all of the horrible BS, QQ, and flames that plagues the rest of the internet. Where people (pretend to) accept the game as it is, and (pretend to) assume that they have no effect on future patches whatsoever.

(my experience on english fan forums for japanese console games is a bit like this – the people there know that the japanese developers have never heard of the place and don’t give a puppy anyways, so the amount of whining is drastically reduced.)

Alternatively, if someone can suggest a fansite that has such a forum for GW2, I would love to go there.

I RARELY see someone in-game complain about how bad the game is. Although the suggestions forum is a bit better about moderating complaints…try that.

If I go on both Guru and the official forums my ears are constantly ringing with people screaming “NERF MESMER” at me, and the patch notes every week scream the same thing.

Open a balance forum, move suggestions to the right forum, 90% of the whines are gone. To be fair, I’m guilty.

Not really. Some other forums I frequent, the Demon’s Souls wikidot forums, Dustloop and the Supreme Commander official forums, are both much more whine free than MMO forums tend to be. Guru is not as bad as here, but it’s pretty bad too.

Those games tend to be more hardcore and attract a more (ahem) intelligent audience so the tone is generally a lot better than many other (more popular) games.

But like I said, just have a subforum here that is moderated to an inch of its life. Recruit some community mods if necessary.

I think it is official forums that tend to attract “whiners” more than any other. The reason being that they want the developer to read their commets rather than players, imho.

This Forum is certainly moderated. Not long ago I posted something expressing an opinion of some players behaviour, I was hoping for some feedback not intending to “whine”. My post was deleted “Threads posted for the sake of complaining are not allowed as they do not invite constructive discussion. Please refrain from creating such post in the future”.

I hope I am not infarcting anything my posting this comment. Just trying to point out that posts do get deleted sometimes.

I will add that I have visited oficial forums for many games, these are not too bad. I remember one I stopped reading because it was nothing more than page after page of complaining with almost no posts from moderators or developers unlike here.
