Noone asked for meaningless minigames
Yeah in all honesty I was asking myself, “why more minigames”. I mean, if it fit with the storyline then sure do it. But it seems like Anet made the mini games and then loosely fit them into the storyline. Its like I went to a carnival and went on the Ferris Wheel and ate cotton candy, which was cool. Now my diet consists of cotton candy for breakfast, lunch and dinner and my life consists of riding a Ferris Wheel.
There’s actually a whole group of people who have been complaining about some minigames since the release of the game.
And honestly, you should not gauge things based on achievements and pretend that this is what ANet wants you to do. Because according to that logic, Anet wants everyone to play a decade of WvW. Also, I should remind you that these games are tied to the Living Story story. Each candidate is offering a different game, after all.
And you have to remember, we have many kinds of players in Guild Wars 2. We have the crafters, who are constantly using resources to give you the latest gear. We have the parkourers, who are always looking for the best jumps. We have the dungeon-crawling Blood Knights who would like nothing more than a mountain of bloodied corpses. We also have our war heroes, who are constantly fighting for eternal glory. We have our lot of Friendly Neighbourhood Heroes, who go around the open world, doing things as they encounter them. And who could forget our Chest Marauders, running to where the biggest chests are.

“I have done ALL event achievments so far. ALL of them.”
To be honest I think that quote sums up your problem.
No one asked you to do them.
They are there for people who do enjoy the mini-games to get some AP.
Sorry, for generalizing here, but in my guild the most vocal people against all these frequent updates are people who like you have done all the achievements for every update. How you guys don’t get burned out is a testament to your love for this game, so do I like do and cherry pick what you do in-game.
I hate jumping puzzles! I refuse to do them.
Am I mad they have tons of achievements linked to them? No, because I can still do the things I do enjoy in game.
The living story is not pulistzer prize winning by any means, but it does advance the story and the updates for this game are so frequent you can have a patch or two not be your cup of tea. Because in two weeks there will be another one and then another one and then another one…

There are EIGHT achievments that have to do with minigames (the repeatable ones included).
Let’s have a look at Flame and Frost, the beginning of the living story: There were ZERO achievments that had to do with minigames because there were none.
And that’s exactly why more achievements in the latest Living Story come from minigames… because they didn’t exist in the previous parts. I don’t suppose they will continue to focus heavily on minigames forever.
Dragon Bash and Land Stand on Southsun didn’t have many achievements based on minigames either, just because they focus on minigames more and more, doesn’t mean they it will continue like this.
In response to the title: I did!
In response to the thread: They wouldn’t make them if people didn’t like them. I’m sorry you don’t like them but that won’t change anything. They are freaking awesome and apparently most people love them. Besides, they make a good amount of money and they’re at least as fun as CoF.
While agreeing with the OP 100%, I would invite you to read the looking ahead blog post which describes a focus more on permanently expanding content going forward (I read that as the opposite of temporary mini-games).

I have no issue with their existence and yes I can ignore them unless I want the AP (which I do). But, they are beginning to dominate. Mini games are better used sparingly rather than driving or leading the content as they currently do. As an RPG, story shouldn’t continue to take a backseat as it has done since LS started.
I’m hoping all these random titbits of story will link to something epic. It’s all very bizarre atm and has been a bit stop/start in places. If the bigger picture works out, then I’ll happily take back some of the things here, but the journey is a bit bumpy right now.
RE: no mini games with F&F. Didn’t super adventure box launch during that period..? As much as I loved SAB…that was def a mini game!
Let’s have a look at this release’s achievments:
There are EIGHT achievments that have to do with minigames (the repeatable ones included).
Dragon Bash, complaints it was too grindy. Bazaar of the Four Winds, complaints there were too many achievements tied to jumping puzzles. The game will never satisfy everyone and from what I have seen over the last several updates they try to mix it up.
I agree though, I do not like most of the minigames. I did get into Sanctum Sprint once I got used to it. I was not too happy seeing all the minigames in this update’s achievements. However, I shrugged it off and decided if at some point I feel like messing with them I will. This is doubtful though and since there are plenty of other things to do I’ll just go about my business as usual.
Some people really like minigames. Some people really like jump puzzles. Some people like myself don’t care for either. Once again I just go about my business as usual and wait for another update that has more achievements I enjoy.
I kind of wished for minigames.
Belcher’s Bluff is the minigame for the Order of Whispers drinking game that I liked.
I do like Aspect Arena over the Crab toss, but Dragon Ball wins over those two.
I still want the bar brawl. Maybe I’ll get lucky and it will show up next release.
