Noran's keyception
I had the exact same thing happen to me
I’m mostly praying that when the hearts reset the purchase resets ;u; And thankfully it resets soon so I guess we can find out by then if that is really the solution or not…
5. I get to the final chest and it says “you need Noran’s oiled key”
At this point, you simply use the oil and open the chest. Once you leave, you can’t get back, so you’ll need to wait for the daily reset.
I am in the same boat, it’s probably just an oversight and they will likely make both keys work on the “gate”. Nevertheless the heart reset will certainly have a new key, so I can get the rewards tomorrow.
I made the same mistake; I saw the icon and thought it was Linseed Oil.
Is it worth fixing if it’s only a day’s chest and it only affects each of us once at the most? I’d rather that Anet find a different icon (or color the existing one differently).
Ok so here’s an update since the reset…
1. I still have the oiled key from before.
2. I did the heart quest again and bought a fresh un-oiled key (so now i have 2 keys)
3. I was able to enter the underground area.
4. When I got to the first chest which contained the oil before, I did not receive new oil. The chest only gave me some junk loot. No oil this time. I wonder if that’s because I have the oiled key from before?
5. I continued to the end and was able to open the chest with the old oiled key from before. The new un-oiled key is still in my inventory.
So it seems you can’t open the chest more than once per day because you can only get the oil once per day. If you screw up and ruin your key, there’s not much point in saving it.
What did you get from the oiled key chest? Was it even worth running through all the traps? Just curious haven’t attempted it yet
5 jade shards.
There’s also an achieve and/or mastery point for the first time you get to the room, at least judging by the achieves listed in the hero panel.
I tried a lot today but was stymied by the room of pillars and planks. I could see where I needed to get to but couldn’t quite spot the route that would let me reach it instead of bumping my chin on a landing spot and ending up with the ghosts below.
I still love the heck out of that crazy survivalist’s digs I’ll go back in with friends at some point.
