There is nothing I like more than pretending to be a shapeshifter. The norn can do this, but only for a limited time every few minutes.

What if all the norn shape shifting elites, except snow leopard, were utilities, and didn’t have cool downs entering them such as engineer kits don’t.

They’re not even that powerful, so it’s not like they would throw off any balance.
It would also develop a sub community of other players who love playing as shape shifters.

I would honestly just have so much fun running around in WvW being able to go into all those animal forms at will!

Anyone else think making them function like kits is a cool and fun idea???

Tbh they are too powerful to be “utility”.But i wouldn’t mind to see another class to be able to shapeshift at will.

as utility? – can be
no cooldown? – keep hoping

contrary to what you have said, all elites are powerful in certain situations

ah… I just love shape shifting so much. I guess they would be too powerful in some situations. It would still be cool to have em all as utilities, and keep their cool downs; by the time I cycled through them all, they would start coming off cool down in another minute or two, so that could still be super awesome and provide the experience of being shifted for half my play time. But, being able to ship seamlessly at will… that’s some that’d keep me playing happily for a while! My imagination desires a shape shifter so dearly. Maybe one day, some new spiritesque class will be release and my fancies will be fulfilled!

Would make more sense to improve the skills than to shift them over to the utility bracket. A few of them do too many (too strong) things for utility I suspect.

That doesn’t mean they’re good as they stand, though – nobody uses any of them except snow leopard, and that one only for stealth/evasion.

They could also remain elite, as long as they don’t have a limited time and it’s up to you to decide if you can turn it off.

After all, it’s not like they are so strong, and eventually you’d need to turn them off to use your weapons since most of your combos are with them.

Seriously, some of the Transform skills should have this options, and for the skills, they just mess a little bit with cooldown and that’s done.

The only change I think is absolutely necessary is they should give you a #6 healing skill appropriate to the form, that shares a cooldown with your normal #6 heal.

Honestly, I’ve always wished that shapeshifting allowed me to continue to use my weapon and utility skills and just gave a temporary boost to power and stability or something. As they are, they’re pretty much useless, I almost never see anyone use them and I certainly never do even though I have a four norn in various professions. This is true for a couple reasons:

I’m not fond of elites that change your skills. I use elites so rarely I never get particularly used to the skills, certainly never enough to become competent using them.

The new skills are rarely much better than the skills and weapons you’re built around.

As it stands, its a kind of cool effect that is pretty much useless for 90% of players. However, if changing into the Bear for instance simply gave you a couple boons for twenty seconds and you could continue to play with the skills you chose, I think a lot more people would use it.
