The April Fool’s “event.”

I’m not all worked up about it because it is offensive and insensitive (in light of the recent events in Europe)—though it is those things, and whoever decided to go through with it in spite of that ought to be fired simply for that reason.

But it is just…incredibly stupid. Unbelievably stupid.

I think you would have to have an IQ in the single digits to find this “event” funny, amusing, or enjoyable in any way. It is incredibly, stupendously stupid. Un-enjoyable. Adds nothing positive whatsoever to the game. NOTHING. Instead, detracts incredibly from the game, and makes the experience of the game annoying, frustrating, stupid, and much less enjoyable.

Seriously. Whoever designed this “event” needs to be fired. Immediately. And anyone who approved this “event” needs to be fired. Because they have no clue how to run an MMO.

I’ve just come over to GW2 after years in multiple other MMO’s that had a variety of (usually) well-thought-out, fun, interesting events. Not all of them great, for sure—some better than others, as is typical for MMO’s. But none of them nearly as lame as this one. None of them nearly as stupid as this one.

And then I come here, to GW2, considering making this my MMO “home” for the foreseeable future…and the first “event” I experience is this.

Seriously?

Nobody with any intelligence could have possibly thought this would be a good idea. Nobody. NOBODY.

It seems to me the only people who would find this event amusing as the same sort of people who fart in public and then laugh hysterically because they think it’s funny when someone farts in public.

It would have been far better to have done nothing than to do this. Sorry, but it’s the truth.

Unless you’re trying to appeal to the “13-year-old-male-who-thinks-farting-in-public-is-funny” demographic, there is really nothing at all appealing about this “event.”

It is an annual thing. Last year was bobble heads. Annoying yes… but, its literally a day and a half, then all is back to normal.
I personally found it annoying, so I logged off and will be back on in a day.. simple as that.

Its a game, has nothing to do with reality. If you are in fact that put out by the sight of imaginary computer flying I think maybe you need to stay away from any fantasy based entertainments lol.

Now stop trolling the forums, you should be scanning the real skies for more real planes and fretting about them!

The simple thing to do, is add a toggle switch to the event. That way everyone is satisfied. A game event should have characters playing jokes on characters. But this is Anet playing a joke on us. I don’t pay them to play jokes on me. Poor taste and poor choices. this is Anet saying we control your characters and there’s nothing you can do about it. gg

I have enjoyed it, I’m nothing like your demographic. Time to lighten up Francis.

pps – I think all the hoopla is not folks who are really deaply offended due to insensitivity, they are just cranks like this op who have no sense of humor or fun, and are somehow unable to allow others to enjoy this one day effect even though they themselves can disable it most easily on their own character (see other threads)

i.e. They are disgruntled humorless players or, most likely, forum Trolls having some fun as I am having fun responding to them.

I think most “April fools” jokes are stupid. Unsurprisingly, that also means I find this one in-game stupid and annoying too. Definitely not worth getting mad and spending time writing paragraphs of rage on a forum about, though.

This event is a total bummer.

I find it funny.

I have an IQ of over 140.

And yet, this event made me snicker.

Although farting in public…ew. How is that funny? It’s a natural biological response of releasing excessive gas formed within the digestive track. That’s embarassing, not funny!
