I have a tallent of finding faults in every game, most of the times before it’s even released.

Guild Wars 2 managed to convince me upon being released that it’s a flawless game, and I’ll be honest, untill the time I got to play normally (non beta) for a while, I thought that there was very little to criticise about the game…

Now that the game is out….
And we all played a good amount of it, as a miserable person that I am, I came out with a good loundry list of areas when the game comes short (not including bugs and glitches).

Lets put down everything that we didn’t like, and how we believe they could be fixed.

1. The personal Story:
To poot it simply… it’s unexciting… and boring! Normally people don’t expect a story mode in an MMO at all, but once it added and it actually ends up looking like well worked future of the game, the people will subcontiously expect it to have a certain standart of quality.
I made a whole thread on how this could be fixed, so I won’t say more here.

2. The dungeons:
While they aren’t bad them self, they have some insane dificulty spikes, and something is going wrong when one of your hardest dungeons is your very first one.
The group finder is non-existing if not extreamly well hidden and this is something I expected from all MMOs to have including this one.
Also I believe the way they are treating failure is just wrong. You shouldn’t be able run back to the ongoing battle from the nearest waypoint once you die. Bosses shouldn’t be such HP buckets (or ridiculusly hard in some cases) and in exchange you shouldn’t be able to run back to ongoing fights from waypoints.
Keep the hard bosses for the end-game!

3. Player and lightshow overload.
Whenever we are doing a big event that involves lots of players (like the Destroyer or WvWvW) the game becomes a slideshow. In my case it becomes like that even on lower settings since I aparently have a weak CPU. But It would be nice if the game had an option automatically scalle down the settings when we have event’s like these.
Also whenever there is just one target and more than players attacking it, you can’t see a thing from the light show displayed. The solution to this would be a simmilar to the above of having the fireworks of the skills automatically being redused in dungeons and events where many players are attacking the same enemy.

4. Loadings.
Loadings are annoying but most players are aware that they are nessesary for zoning in GW2 despite other MMOs doing it in an instant as a sandbox world. Unlike other MMO’s however in GW2 they are common and some times the last almost half a minute. I suggest keeping at least the chat and menus functioning during loadting times and instead of just an artwork, show us some story exposition for the area we are entering.
The ideal solution would be the old trick of masking loading with hallways or video cutscenes or teleportation effects taking advantage of the fact that there is no flying here, without taking control of your character.

Let me hear your oppions.
After all, the first step to fixing a problem is to acknowledge it first.

Oh look, another one of these…
As for 4: I think the load times are because of crap CPU. I’m not too sure.
I have bad loadtimes as well but my CPU doesn’t meet the reqs.

I personally like the storyline. My only beef is that I don’t want my character to act…like the way she is. She acts with dignity but I placed her as Charm. I thought it would effect the storyline whilst she talks.

Your talent is very flawed because all of what you complain about was exactly the same in beta.

That was a royal “we” right?

Beta is Beta, and I expected stuff to be fixed from there.
Also I didn’t had the chance to to play the second and the final beta because they came at a time that I had examination tests, and the other came when I was on hollydays in Germany.
The last time I played before the game’s release was on a stress test where I didn’t managed to play much and afterwards they clossed the forums immidietly.
Also, I leaved lots of feedback during the 1rst beta that I managed to participate.

To let you know, I don’t hate the game. It’s quite opposite in fact! GW2 is one of my favorite games that came out this year, and I usually find far more flaws in games.
This topic doesn’t intend to break the game but to fix it, so don’t make me add the game’s community to the list!
