Nvidias reason why Anets performance stinks and for Video cards.
Tell me again why it’s an excuse?
i have a gaming laptop (quadcore 2.2ghz 16gb ram 2gb graphics) with a nvidia card and i still experience massive FPS drop in WvW even with low settings. what is this SLI usage that i should disable and what effects is it going to have on my laptop?

I fail at quoting….
I said its an excuse because a while back Nvidia and Anet were touting SLI support and awesome performance with Nvidia technology….It is still even stated if you search for Guild Wars 2 on the geforce site…
Now they are coming up with these excuses and some pretty bad ways to get around it which will cause people desprate for some better performance to end up trashing their system.
Why is it still heavily CPU-bound?
Why is it still heavily CPU-bound?
I wonder the same thing…ANet said the Betas were CPU bound and many of us were hoping it would be GPU optimized by launch….guess we were all wong… ANet trying to launch this game early and beat the WoW Panada launch and we get a game that could have easily used a few more betas and waitied for a november or december release. Ive waited for many years already I could have waited a few more months.
Uh, hate to burst your bubble but most mmos lately are heavily cpu bound (and you normally need over 3ghz to get anywhere near full performance on those types). And I see ffxiv in there which is just laughable because that is the most terribly optimized mmo I have ever played, and I’ve been playing it since release. Also, guild wars runs 1000x more smoothly than I could ever get that game to run. If the game isn’t running SLI right atm for you the best thing to do is run a single until they fix it, so what if you paid for it, it’s not like it’s the only game in the world that you’ll be using it on. I’d say sucking it up and sticking to a single until everything’s been tweaked will get you much better results than whining on a forum if you’re “scared to break your hardware”.
I personally enjoy the 10 fps I get in WvW / meta events. Not.

I am more worried about concerns and other post that would pop up from people saying they broke hardwre from trying to overclock their systems.
My system is overclocked. I run a 3930K at 5.0 GHz and have a gtx590. I have a 690 on the way and another friend with the same system as me with a 690 sais he gets no performance increase either
My system is a beast.
Yet….
I still have major performance issues wit h this game alone.
I run rift which is just as graphically intensive as GW2 and its silky smooth constantly. I am more annoyed primarily because I feel they rushed things and could have waitied a bit longer to actually work with Nvidia.

i5 2500K with a GTX 480 here. You guys need to get off your toasters; I’ve never dipped below 60 FPS in WvW.
Also, check out Hardcore Adventure Box: World 1, World 2, Lost Sessions
Main Character: Dathius Eventide | Say “hi” to the Tribulation Clouds for me. :)
So that explains why I am getting 55 FPS at best and 45 on average with a GTX 670! No, I do not use vertical sync either. I was thinking of saving up for a Haswell processor anyway, by the time it comes out I should easily have one. Now I have an i7 950 and will upgrade to the equivalent tier for the generation (probably yet another i7 but 4k instead of 3k like ivy). Then again I could just buy ivy and a MB.
As for overclocking you should have better than a stock cooler anyway. Noctua makes great CPU coolers, and full tower cases are best to maximize airflow. You don’t need a Cosmo II (though admittedly would be great to have though HAF X is good enough) just something with breathing space.
