Q:

I’m thinking of getting the expansion for my Non-HoT account basicaly because I’m mostly in WvW and PvE stories last me ages. I only finished the HoT story a couple of months back and I bought it at launch. Still less than 50% of the way through Season 3. And I’ve only really looked at Tempest and Druid from the HoT specs.

So, it seems that PoF will not reqiure HoT to play. That’s good. But what about things like the Tyria mastery track and the HoT only WvW things such as Shield Gens and Provisioner? Will these things remain tied to HoT?

Mostly I’m thinking about autoloot in WvW.

WvW isn’t tied to HoT.

Can someone please answer the question instead of unhelpful witty comments?
I am also dying to know how PoF works with the Tyria mastery and auto looting.
I do not own HoT and only purchased PoF so I am uncertain which masteries will be available to me (I know HoT gliding and forest ones is not). And I am not certain how specialization works, do I need to use the new weapon unlocked?

WvW isn’t tied to HoT.

The things I mentioned are HoT only.

When something is added to WvW (even if it comes with an update), aside from new classes, it is availible to everyone in WvW. If it wasn’t it would unbalance WvW and create an unfair advantage for people who spent money.

That being said, any future updates to wvw should be availible to everyone who plays wvw. Autoloot should also be availible to everyone in wvw even without hot because it is now a wvw mastry and not a hot/cental tyria mastry.

that is not true. the provisions master ability (needed for autoloot in WvW) is not available for people who don’t own HoT.

not sure how that will work without HoT and just PoF though, but if I had to guess, that one at least wouldn’t be available because it unlocks HoT recipes

It’s a pretty simple answer.
HoT masteries are what unlocked the ability to earn core Tyria masteries, and through such, autoloot.
PoF masteries will work the same way, no reason for them to change the coding. Access to PoF masteries will grant the ability to earn core Tyria masteries.
The ability to autoloot is a core Tyria mastery, meaning that the Provision Master track is tied to it.

Owning PoF, but not HoT, will 99.99% chance grant you access to Provision Master trait in WvW. It may have it’s own track that includes PoF recipes and not HoT, but the trait will be about the same.

The comments about WvW are not true. Shield Generators were added with HoT and unless you upgraded your account to having HoT you could not use a Shield Generator.

I had 2 accounts at HoT launch and only upgraded one at the time. The non-upgraded account could not use a Shield Generator. It could “interact” with it but no skills would show up to be used. I have since upgraded all my accounts so I do not know it this is still correct but for one year after HoT launch it was correct.

I hoping they add Shield Generators with PoF to avoid this problem but we’ll have to see what becomes of it.

Log into your non-HoT account. Choose a character and enter the game. No need to even go to WvW. Look at the Ranks and Abilities tab. See if Provisions Master is there. If it is, see if the 20 point autoloot option is there.

^If it is not there, check after PoF has released, if nothing else.

Or, you might look during the Beta weekend.

Good luck.
