What’s the best way to farm for obsidian shards?

As far as I know, you can get obsidian shards via:

• Karma
• Laurels
• Fractal Relics
• Bauble Bubbles

Karma acquisition has been nerfed into the ground. I definitely don’t want to spend Laurels as they’re pretty valuable, being time gated.

That leaves farming fractals and SAB. I haven’t done fractals in a LONG time, but I recall fractal relics were relatively easy to come by. I haven’t tried SAB at all — do Baubles drop at a decent rate?

Karma rates haven’t been nerfed at all if you’re used to getting your karma from doing dynamic events…

You cannot get shards from SAB anymore. Also baubles have been nerfed.

You can no longer get them from SAB either.

As said above, BBs can no longer be traded in for shards, so your best bet would be with fractals and laurels, and to be honest, none of them are fast. A complete fractal run would give you 4/5 shards. As for laurels, do dailies and monthlies I guess. A-Net slowed down shard progression considerably with the last karma nerf.

Run Fractals using Karma boosts, buy with both relics and karma. Win win. Unless you don’t like Fractals (completely understandable).
