Oceanic Server
Never, I would imagine. The only mmo I know of that had them was WAR and they weren’t very successful.
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
There won’t be an official oceanic server. Sea of Sorrows is the unofficial one.
Anet deems the oceanic community as a minority not in need of it’s own servers. It’s not really a problem though since gw2 isn’t as ping based as gw1 was so you can get by with 200-400 ping.

Not really, in PvP having instant response is a huge advantage.
In which case I really doubt they’d go to the trouble for a single server for our region just so people can pvp.

WvW requires three servers, so…
Yeah Sea of Sorrows has pretty much been adopted by us Oceanic players. I don’t think they are likely to make an Oceanic server.
As dekou points out WvW requires at least 3 servers, even then it sort of requires more than 3 so that there is some form of rotation, otherwise a whole lot of issues crop up.

This is the main issue. An official oceanic server couldn’t be properly matched against other servers, and there’s probably not enough oceanic presence to fill 3 servers.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
They could If they put us in a Asian region or something. I know they’re working on Chinese and South Korean servers. Really wouldn’t be that hard to ad an oceanic server to the region…
The ping ATM is quite ridiculous.

There are obvious issues with putting players in English speaking countries with players from countries where English is hardly spoken at all…
Not to mention the Chinese and South korean versions of the game are likely to be completely separated from the Western servers. They are a completely different market and they expect different things from their MMO’s so there are likely to be differences between the Western and Eastern versions of the game. (It’s also problematic putting Oceanic players on a server which a country well known for it’s numerous botters and gold farmers plays…

Really? Seems to work quite well for the euro region.
Not to mention the fact that there are plenty of non English guilds playing on na servers because that’s the only option they get. War machine, foo, neverdie, I have played with and against these guilds and language is only a small issue.
I’m saying put oceanic players in a oceanic server in an Asian region. Not on an Asian server.
The other issues are valid albeit cosmetic, but I still believe they could be overcome if resources were put to the task.
