Odds of Getting Into Tarnished Coast?
You can still RP with them in PvE. You just can’t WvW with them. But yes, you will just have to keep checking off and on for an opening. There is no other way to get in.
don’t come tier 1 for wvw man, the zerg fights are atrocious, can’t press any buttons with all the crazy lag , i regretted coming to tier 1

How do megaservers work exactly? Like, I’ll able to be in the same area and they’ll still be capable of reading my emotes and seeing my character?
I also read about World Transfers, something about it costing (what looked to be) Gems? Can I just delete my character and start fresh somewhere else without paying the transfer fee?
Also, thanks for responding!

If you don’t plan on doing WvW with them, you can just join their party, right click on their character portrait and join in their megaserver map.

Megaservers place players from the different servers from the same region into a shared map until that map is full. At that point a new map is created and the same thing continues, so forth and so on. There are some placement priorities like server but from what I have seen it doesn’t make that big of a difference. If you party up with your friends you should be able to join them with out an issue.
To your other question. Yes you can transfer for free by deleting all characters. Just make sure your put everything you want to keep in your bank first.

Unless it’s WvW, the servers thing is largely meaningless – but each instance of a map can still only hold x number of people. But the server they came from doesn’t matter.

Yes you can delete it and transfer for free i advice you to put any not soulbound item like bags blue weapons armor and what ever into the bank since it wont get deleted and any materials you can stack in your materials tab useing the cog in the top right corner of your inventory panel
This is horrible, we get forums on people saying “odds on getting in” and i dont see where all our numbers are!? WvW is nothing compared to BG and JQ, PvP is about the same. All our RPers and PvErs are nowhere to be seen, LFG system and SW has about the same amount of people as in Devonas rest which is where i came from. My main problem is our lack of people in WvW for being a full server and a T3…
I got in no problem like a month ago. I didn’t even know it was an issue.

You do know that all but the WvW is shared across all servers in the same server cluster right?
As others above have noted your home server makes no difference to meeting up with friends anywhere but WvW. Join in a party with them, and if you are not in the same instance of your zone but are in the same zone, right click the shadowed out party portrait and select “Join in (Map Name).” If their map is full you’ll get an error and have to keep trying, or they’ll have to come to you instead if they don’t need to stay where they are (e.g. they are in an organized world boss map).
Now, your home server supposedly makes a difference in that maps try to prioritize lumping together people with the same server. But the open-area RP community on TC has yet to fully recover from the conversion to the megaserver, and RP is more likely to attract trolls and griefers than before. Even so you will generally stumble across RP in the major cities, and I assume that it is more likely you will do so if the game considers you to be a TC resident.
So you can keep trying to get on TC before you really start building your alts (for free if you’ve deleted them). The two tricks I’ve heard are to make the attempt in the wee hours US time, say 3 to 6 am eastern, and to fully close and reopen the game between attempts rather than just refreshing, as some claim that refreshing restarts your two minute timer where the servers won’t change status for you or something like that.
- You have to be perseverant and patient to transfer to a full server. Keep trying early and often (as well as late and often).
- I’ve been on TC since 2012 and I’m very happy with it still, especially due to its great WvW and PvE communities.
- It’s more convenient for RPing in PvE, but hardly essential unless you are still looking for RP pick-up groups.

It absolutely makes a difference, especially in LA and Divinity’s Reach. Friends in Blackgate and Yak’s (as well as other worlds) hardly ever end up in the same instance as I do for those cities (as well as other maps). (Of course, if we are partied up, we always end up in the same instance.)
But the open-area RP community on TC has yet to fully recover from the conversion to the megaserver, and RP is more likely to attract trolls and griefers than before.
I can’t agree. Even if you make the etiquette mistake of RPing in /map instead of /party or /say, you aren’t likely to attract trolls (depending on when and where). Trolls get bored quickly if ignored (which is easy if you /block them). Well before megaserver, I saw more issues between conflicting RPers than between RPers and trolls.
Megaserver definitely introduced some wrinkles to RPing, but they are mostly minor for most people most of the time.
Even so you will generally stumble across RP in the major cities, and I assume that it is more likely you will do so if the game considers you to be a TC resident.
As noted above, it’s definitely more likely. Also as noted above, there are ways around it.
