Can ANET please add auto-attack chain change based on what off-hand you are holding.
Edit: Here are a few of my ideas on what can be implemented.

While Secondary Weapons change the attack chain, non-combat off-hands only add to the end of the attack chain.
[Warrior]
Axe/Axe – With lots of chopping in mind
1 Chop
x-1 Double Chop – With Both Axes.
xx-1 Triple Chop – With Both Axes.
xxx-1 Quadruple Chop – Strike Four Times with both Axes, last strike grants Fury.
Axe/Sword – Some Hack and Slash
1 Chop
x>1 Double Slash – With Axe/Mace, apply Bleed on second strike(sword).
xx>1 Triple Slash – With Axe/Mace, apply Bleed on second strike(sword).
xxx>1 Hamper – Strike Twice with both Axe/Sword, last strike Randomly adds Torment or Crippled.
Axe/Mace – To tenderize your foes
1 Chop
x>1 Double Strike – With Axe/Mace
xx>1 Triple Strike – With Axe/Mace, apply Weakness on second(mace) strike
xxx>1 Impair – Strike Twice, last strike(mace) Randomly adds Confusion, Vulnerability, or Weakness.
Sword/Sword – Should feel fast
1 Sever Artery
x>1 Gash – With Off-hand Sword.
xx>1 Hamstring
xxx>1 Double-Strike – Strike Twice, last strike grants Quickness.
Sword/Axe – Similar to Axe/Sword, but enjoys more condition.
1 Sever Artery
x>1 Hack – With Off-hand Axe.
xx>1 Hamstring
xxx> Hack and Slash – Strike Twice, last strike(axe) grants Fury.
Sword/Mace
1 Sever Artery
x-1 Mace Bash – With Off-hand Mace
xx-1 Hamstring
xxx- Break – Strike Twice, last strike(mace) randomly causes confusion or vulnerability.
Mace/Mace
1 Mace Smash
x-1 Mace Bash – With Off-hand Mace
xx- Pulverize
xxx-1 Snap Strike – Strike your foe, causing chill.
Mace/Axe
1 Mace Smash
x- Hack – With Off-hand Axe.
xx- Pulverize
xxx-1 Ravage – Hack at your foe, causing bleeding and vulnerability.
Mace/Sword
1 Mace Smash
x-1 Gash – With Off-hand Sword.
xx-1 Pulverize
xxx-1 Eviscerate – Slash your foe, causing Torment.
Shield
xxx-1 Defiant Stance – Raise your Shield, granting Stability to yourself.
War-horn
xxx-1 Rallying Call – Grant Might to yourself and remove Fear on nearby allies.

[Guardian] Off-Hand
Focus
xxx-1 Blinding Strike – Empower your next strike with light to blind your target.
Shield
xxx-1 Shield Wall – Raise your Shield, granting Protection to yourself.
Torch
xxx-1 Burning Strike – Set yourself alight, burn your foes with your next attack. If Zealots Flame is Active, increase its burning duration.
And that’s it for Guardians

[Engineer]
Pistol/Pistol
1 Fragmentation Shot – Alternate between pistols with a ¼ activation time between shots. Twice as many pistols to fire twice as fast.
Pistol/Shield
x-1 Charged Shield – Raise your shield, blocking incoming projectiles.

[Ranger]
Sword: Since the second attack isn’t a weapon, the normal attack chain stays the same, but still adds the final attack.
Sword/Axe
xxx-1 Rip – Hack(axe) your foe, causing bleed.
Sword/Dagger
xxx-1 Snakebite – Stab(dagger) your foe, causing poison.
Sword/Torch
xxx-1 Burning Strike – Strike your foe with your torch, burning them.
Sword/War-horn
xxx-1 Ranger’s Call – Grant Vigor to yourself. Your pet’s next strike heals itself.
Axe/Axe
1 Ricochet – Alternate between axes with a 1/8 activation time between throws. Twice as many axes to throw twice as often.
Axe/Dagger
1 Ricochet
x-1 Dagger Throw – Bleed foes on hit.
Axe/Torch
1 Ricochet
x-1 Your next thrown axe burns your targets.
Sword/War-horn
xxx-1 Ranger’s Call – Grant Vigor to yourself. Your pet’s next strike heals itself.
Axe/War-horn
xxx-1 Ranger’s Call – Grant Vigor to yourself. Your pet’s next strike heals itself.

[Thief]
Sword/Dagger
1 Slice
x-1 Wilde Strike(dagger)
xx-1 Crippling Strike
xxx-1 Vampire Strike – Strike your foe(off-hand dagger), leeching health.
Sword/Pistol
xxx-1 Quick-shot – Quickly shoot your foe, applying bleeding.
Dagger/Dagger
1 Double-Strike – with each dagger.
x-1 Wild Strike
xx-1 Lotus Strike
xxx-1 Dagger Jab – Stab(dagger) your foe and apply bleeding
Dagger/Pistol
xxx-> Quick-shot – Quickly shoot your foe, applying bleeding.
Pistol/Pistol
1 Vital Shot – Alternate between pistols with a ¼ activation time between shots. Twice as many pistols to fire twice as fast.

[Mesmer]
Sword/Sword
1 Mind Slash
x-1 Mind Gash – With off-hand Sword
xx-1 Mind Spike
xxx-1 Mind Rupture – Slash your foe, applying weakness.
Scepter/Sword
xxx- Crippling Blade – Shoot a bolt from your blade, crippling your foe.
Off-hand Pistol
xxx-1 Dazzling Shot – Quickly shoot your foe, applying confusion.
Off-hand Focus
xxx-1 Mind Lash – Enhance your next strike to steal a boon from your foe. If your foe does not have a boon, deal extra damage.
Off-hand Torch
xxx-1 Mesmerize – Flash your torch, blinding foes around you for a short period of time.

…Huh. That would be nice. If anything, just altering the last hit in the auto-attack string would give a different flavor to the weapon pair being used.

Many alts; handle it!

Very similar to the Dual Attack of thieves.

Dunno how it would work overall.

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

This…. is a really good idea!!

I like this a lot. I’ve always thought it sort of lame that you can go an entire fight without so much as moving your offhand weapon.

I REALLY thinks this would be cool.

Dunno how likely it would ever be to get implemented, but I think it would make auto attacks look more interesting and flashy, and would be a good way to balance specific weapon sets.

Me likey — here’s to hoping your suggestion gets some attention.

Anyone have anymore ideas on how we can make dual-wielding combat look and feel better? I would love to use dual pistols on my engineer if it just looked and felt better than the rifle.

Sounds cool, but how would you attack with a focus/warhorn/torch?
Additionally, what would happen if your mh-weapon is a ranged weapon and your oh-weapon is a melee one?

I heard that you like the bad girls, honey, is that true?

I’d rather see Mainhand weapons without offhand. It makes more sense to wield a 1h sword than 2 1h swords. Having a dagger in the offhand makes sense for quick parries or blocks.

1 Sword makes a lot of sense, but can be wielded in many, many different ways, which all change how it’s used (use with 2h’s, different poses, etc).

For Focus/War Horn/Torch, they would act as a quick item to boost your next attack.

If they’re a melee weapon they could do the same thing, or do a ranged skill appropriate for the class.

This is one of my major peeves about this game and I’d love to see it sorted… but I’d prefer it to be entirely aesthetic. If we had the actual damage and other effects of the auto-attack chain altered by the off-hand, we’d be forced even more into choosing particular weapon combinations.

The skill and trait system is most likely to see little to no drastic changes. Don’t spend too much energy on it.
I’m largely disappointed with it.

But that’s the fun of dual wielding is that both weapons should change how you fight, so that you are picking these two weapons for a reason.

It would still be a welcome change though. Both aesthetically and game play wise. Hopefully making more dual-wield options more viable to take.

Except I’m quite sure most players (or even people, in general) aren’t ambidextrous meaning that wielding an Axe, Mace, Sword, Pistol, Focus, Warhorn, or even Torch in your offhand will actively harm your movement, like wearing heavy armor. Gauntlets and Daggers are typically so small and light that they can be considered extensions of your arm (well, a Gauntlet literally is that) to allow quick and easy reflecting/parrying or blocking.

And while you might say that Pistols are easily wielded in both hands, remember that most pistols in GW2 are not current-age pistols. They more resemble pistols that require reloading after each individual shot (inb4 someone posts a picture of a pistol skin, wooooo~).

Thieves have skills that appear when they have no offhand. It was added in so that they have 3 skills in the Tutorial, but at the same time the idea is a good one. In implementation, it’s just a really weak version of a dual skill, but I would like to see players get this choice (and possibly make them slightly stronger, if in different ways versus just being “X SKILL BUT WEAKER”).

Of course this would then bring up problems such as: What if I wear Sword in mainhand + Sword in Offhand, and then in my second set I have just a Scepter. The game will put a Sword offhand in both my offhand slots, so I would need a method of choosing which one goes where, etc.
