I’ve never played a lw story or even finished the personal/HoT story so my opinion is probably invalid however…….I loved it and Im actually going back through all the story because of it. Thumbs up from a very confused wvw player.

Ps thanks for a normal fun jumping puzzle!!
Ps Ps thanks for making orr relevant again it’s always been a favourite of mine.

I haven’t played this episode’s story yet beyond the first instance. I mostly want to thank you for yet another jumping puzzle and for the Legendary Trinket collection! Mastering hard to navigate environments (Jumping Puzzles, many of the HoT maps and their achievements, etc) is by far my favorite thing in GW2. They provide me with a true challenge of skill, where ‘muscle memory’ and practice pay off. I enjoy these same aspects in raids, but due to the group requirement there the barrier to entry is a lot higher. By incorporating the requirement of mastering all six LS3 maps in the Legendary Trinket you have for the very first time truly motivated me to pursue my first legendary.

I do want to ask if it’s possible to retain checkpoint status in JPs when jumping to another instance of the map. This would have saved me a small 15 minutes of annoyance when I discovered this was not possible…

The plot made very little sense. It felt disconnected from the rest of the episodes. I liked the map and the jumping puzzle.

I know you say 75 words or fewer but it’s difficult to cover everything.

+ve:
+Beautiful map – I always loved the aesthetic of places like Malchor’s Leap and Siren’s Landing uses the environment of Orr very well. Also the different god reliquaries such as Dwayna’s with the Flying or Lyssa’s with the Portals (and beautiful scenery) are fun to play. Nice combination of water and land, of vegetation and architecture.
+Excellent Jumping Puzzle – more of this type please. Not pull your hair out infuriating like Chalice of Tears.
+More Taimi dialogue is always good, and I enjoyed the Commander’s dialogue (as an asura).

-ve:
-As an asura I don’t really like being forced to join the Shining Blade. The secrecy seems a bit stupid from my point of view and I (from an asura perspective) don’t get why they uphold so much secrecy when there are bigger problems in this fictional world. They’re just a small bunch of humans. Tbh I’m a little tired of the human centric White Mantle vs Shining Blade/Kryta vs Gods story, but that’s a personal issue.
- The whole Lazarus thing seems like a side story, tying up loose ends. I didn’t quite get where all those horcruxes aspects came from.

My one big bugbear this season has been the new “Ancient Magics” masteries. The last one; ‘Siren of Orr’, taking the cake in being somewhat expensive for such a limited use ability. If it was usable in other Core Tyria maps then it would be fine, and lore wise it’d make sense near locations such as the following:

I found the story far too disjointed to be happy with Season 3. It feels like we’re missing entire chunks of the story that set up the Balthazar twist, as well as Lazarus as the season’s final enemy. I love the Mursaat, but the way Lazarus was handled feels like a total waste to me. Season 1 developed Scarlet as a villain who needed to be stopped at all costs. Season 2 did the same for Mordremoth. Season 3 didn’t convince me that I should care.

Regarding the zone for this last episode, the timed updrafts against the waterfall is one of the worst minigames in this entire game. The unchained spider just sits up there because nobody can be kitten d to fly up to fight it.

Thumbs up, though, for a jumping puzzle that is challenging but doesn’t require playing beside Dulfy’s video walk-through to figure out where to go from one jump to the next.

75-words (or less) version:

When are we going to ever get an update on Zojja that doesn’t consist of hearsay? Heck, when are we getting an update on things unresolved from Heart of Thorns?

Story felt disjointed and all over the place. Not a fan. New map is okay but still really laggy. Shrines are an interesting alternative to waypoints. I don’t find myself ever using the new mastery at all.

Unfiltered version:

As far as the new map goes, it’s an okay addition. I miss the typical ways to farm unbound magic by killing things but if I wanna farm unbound magic then I’ll go to those maps. The lag still occurring on the map makes doing anything a pain though, whether it’s farming pearls, doing events, doing achievements, etc. I was originally against the shrines-as-waypoints system but it’s grown on me. I kind of like it. I don’t find myself really using the new mastery. At the same time, I’m glad it’s not tied to map exploration.

As far as the story goes…I’m going to be honest. I’m tired. I don’t care anymore. I want to care but it’s clear from the writing thus far that they want to act like HoT didn’t exist. My favorite character, Zojja, is still in an undetermined state that could have been resolved in a Current Event but for some reason that hasn’t been done. If you’re not going to do anything with her, then at least kill her off so that there’s closure instead of leaving those of us who care about the character hanging like we’re doing now.

Speaking of other hanging threads (related to HoT or even pre-HoT), there’s also the status of the Nightmare Court, what’s going on with the Zephyrites after being blown out of the sky, the locket/pendant/artifact that’s supposed to determine the true heir to the Krytan throne, among others that have yet to be resolved. However, the writing team(s) seem more keen on appeasing the GW1 fans now. I feel like this is really reflected in the overall writing and theme of LWS3 now that it’s done and over with.

I’m not against that. I’m glad the GW1 fans/vets are getting their time. I just think it was done in a way that it neglects those who never touched GW1 or can’t get into it (such as myself). I have no real investment in the lore of GW1. As far as I’m concerned, all of LWS3 – not just Episode 6 – gets a giant shrug from me because I don’t have that investment in GW1. My investment is in the story threads I mentioned before and it’s clear from the LWS3 releases that that’s not what Anet cares about at the moment, so therefore I can’t be bothered to care anymore.

This non-linear form of storytelling, this jumping from one thing to another without resolving prior things is becoming bothersome, frustrating, difficult to keep up with and, more importantly, difficult to care about. Like I said before, at one time I cared about the story. I still want to care about the story. However, going by what’s been released and going by the general direction of the story, I can’t be invested anymore. I can’t be bothered to care anymore. I’m tired. I’ve moved on.

So I guess congrats to Anet for at least getting and keeping the gameplay fresh and accessible because that – and playing with a friend of mine – is what’s keeping me in the game and encouraging me to continue gem card purchases as well as a standard pre-order of PoF. It certainly isn’t the story keeping me engaged anymore. Without the gameplay and friend though, I’d definitely move onto other games.

Playing GW2 for the story is like expecting plot in a porno. You’ll be left disappointed.

episode 6 is story wise the worst so far:
- Shining Blade death oath: even with my human main char I didn’t want to take the oath and join the Shining Blade…
- rushed introduction of Livia (it needs time to introduce such an important character)
- Lazarus was only resurrected to kill him; with the achievement he was only alive for nine minutes or less; totally unworthy for the last Mursaat (I really liked the Idea of Lazarus as an ally against the elder dragons)

The best would be if episode 6 was completly rewritten and rereleased or just cutted out.

Look around the palace in DR. Shining Blade guards everywhere. And they DO have their own outfit, we just don’t get to wear it.

Shining Blade is basically the Queen’s own guard. Think of them like the Secret Service for the US President. Usually, they’re pretty obvious, and everyone knows they’re there despite the “secret” part of the name. Maybe some are hidden, but they’re hardly a secret organisation.

As Season 3 wraps up with “One Path Ends,” we’d love to ask you a favor, as we have in the past:

Please share your high-level feedback (75 words or fewer) on Episode 6.

Please mark any spoilers with the spoiler tag (see formatting guide) to avoid giving away the story to those who have not yet played all the way through.

Devs will be reading other threads, of course, and longer or more detailed feedback is welcome. This thread is designed to amass your high-level views.

My wife and I play story missions together in this game. The times where ONLY ONE PERSON INTERACTS were just wrong. WTH… this is an MMO and you are punishing people for actually interacting with other people and bringing them along in your story line? This is the first time i have gotten noticeably angry with this game. Putting me up in a tower? not allowing me to even move during the fearless portion? WHAT THE HELL… I bought this game to be able to play along side her not sit and watch.

overall, for season 3… i think that plot points overrode character development, and characters acted out of character. each episode started to feel like a saturday morning cartoon bad guy of the week type of thing. episodes 1-4 felt decent enough, until the “twist” at the end of the final instance. then episode 5 felt out of place, and trying too hard to solve a mystery that was never properly built up. episode 6 would have been better if episode 5 didn’t come out of left field to disrupt the story.

i think that Kerida should have been introduced in episode 1, to offer more doubt on Lazarus’ identity, instead of the PC believing a note from Caudecaus that one aspect wasn’t used in the ritual. how in Tyria would the PC know if one aspect would affect a resurrection ritual that the PC knew nothing about anyway?!

i think that the drama in Dragon’s Watch (ie, the “Commander, don’t tell me what to do” moments) were all way too contrived and against character for everybody, based on season 1 and 2 building up trust among everyone on the team.

i think this season was focused too much on trying to throw twists at us, M Night Shymalan style, that this season forget to give us CLUES to the mystery in the actual story…

i also think that the fire and ice logic was garbage. Jormag should not have retreated just because Primordus retreated. they were nowhere near each other, and didn’t eat the same magic from Omadd’s Machine. it would be like poisoning Godzilla’s food in Japan, and then suddenly Mothra fell ill in the USA? doesn’t make any sense. it’s too Tomax and Xamot (the twins in GIJoe) where you punch one in the face, and the other falls down. except that Primordus and Jormag are NOT twins.

now, episode 6 by itself…

i actually rather enjoyed most of it. i liked the mechanics (though i’m not fond of puzzles, and would have preferred to NOT have to solve puzzles in an MMO, but meh, whatever). in a way, it felt like non humans were shoehorned into a human storyline, but i still enjoyed the extra lore. (Mursaat and Seers, origin of The SHining Blade weapon.)

i also enjoyed the trials. and the idea behind them. i just wish that the writers didn’t try to justify the trials by contriving all the out-of-character drama in Dragon’s Watch.

there was already enough self-doubt from HoT storyline, referenced in the instance itself.

i like the new map, except for the random updrafts in the west. it took me a good 10 minutes of solid gliding just to get up to the spider den / mastery insight area, because the updrafts i needed kept disappearing. i like the heart NPC’s. very lore appropriate. i kinda wish there was more lore to find in the reliquaries.

i think i went over 75 words. my bad. Bacon Defeciency Disorder sux.

I thought the puzzle was cool where you had to throw the bloodstone on that electric trap. I solved it by overloading it and activating all the nodes at once ^^

Just resurrecting this to say that I don’t like how hard it was to find the pages and other usable objects this time. Looking for a grey square on grey terrain is not fun. All this does is push people to external guides quicker.

I think you should respect the “Show All Usable Object Names” option, if people have that option selected then show the names above the objects. If people don’t want that option then they can deselect it.

Yeah, I didn’t even bother with this because of this recent change Anet’s made. I hate jumping out of a game to use a guide. That’s not fun. stop making me needle in a haystack things.

Maps are too big and empty. Mounts making traversing them faster, but not any mroe fun. Add more waypoints.

New specs seem entirely built around competitive play with no thought spared for making them fun in pve.

Enemies are very unengaging. I never fought the hydras, but the forged or whatever shows up in missions and near town? Wasn’t even really aware what I was fighting.

But the straw that broke the camels back is the ID cost. Someone explain why i suddenly have to pay a tax on all drops or surrender my shot at ectos or exotics just because some other people have untidy bags?

What’s the in world explanation for this? My girls have been saving for the world for 5 years and now they can’t tell pants from a mace without having to pay a consultant?

I really can’t put into words how much I hate this and so I’ve decided to say it in a way anet might understand and asking for a refund of my preorder.

If you must keep this terrible idea in the game, allow us to toggle it off. Put in a “I can manage my inventory just fine, thanks, I’d like to retain enough basic intelligence to know what a sword is when I see it” option.

Either that or remove the cost and the need to consult an npc. Make it an infinite, at will right click option. I realize this entirely destroys the idea, but that’s exactly what needs to happen. It really is that bad.
