Heya,

I heard that ArenaNet were reworking the reward system, which is great. I’ve felt since the game launched the rewards for killing mobs are greatly out of sync and don’t give you any incentive to take on bigger foes.

So I just looked at the link to the next content pack and its going on about rewards for achievement points. Is this what they meant when they said they were improving rewards?

I assumed it was going to address the rewards for killing mobs. Any input would be great.

Cheers,
Genophix

i will believe it when i see it. otherwise is just tales.

We just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2. No one enjoys that.

Don’t believe it.

They said they’d make dungeon champions worth fighting too….
Did the actual loot in the chests get improved at all? Did we get anything new or useful out of them like more higher demand crafting supplies (or herbs, or shards, or anything at all ppl actually want??) … nope… we got little baggies with 3 extra tokens, barely any karma, and 3 silver. Meanwhile dungeon participation dropped immensely and most players who specialized in them, took a good long break (I know I did).

That was their last big Rewards update they hyped up right before the WvW one where they just added those titles (instead of new content or new objectives that didn’t favor mass zerging). So expect them to promise the moon and then hand you a rock instead charlie brown…

End of summer is the ETA for the reward “fix”

In other news I did Arah 2 days ago, got loads of rares (5) while fighting the normal mobs here and there and got 0 rares from either the chests or any of the silver ones. Yes the reward system is messed up, it’s way too rewarding for normal mobs and underwhelming for anything above them. They should reduce rewards from all normal mobs but increase the rewards from champions. I wouldn’t care if I only got some crafting mats and blues/whites from normal mobs

What would the point be of killing normal mobs if you only got white items as drops?

A WORD OF WARNING!

Everyone seems to be assuming reworking the reward system = more loot…

This is not the case some areas the rewards will be nerfed, others buffed…

So don’t get hopes up too much…Anet after keep the rewards balanced so players continue to buy gems…

White/blue items and materials. Then use higher ranked mobs to get rares and exotics. Do a dungeon run (any) and see how much more loot you get from normal mobs compared to silver ones, it’s silly. Silver mobs should be the ones players go for to get high-grade items like rares, not farming milions of normal mobs.

My idea of a good reward system is one that is in context.

So like if Im killing low level mobs I only expect to get trash and the very occasional rare.

When I’ve spent 15 minutes making my way up a rock formation and then killed three veterans Id like the game to recognise that. Im not sure if a game can do this as Im not a programmer.

I know most large world bosses now give a rare the first time you kill them in the day and this shows me AN are trying to get it right. I’m more refereeing to all mobs below world boss level.

It’s always just felt far more satisfying in other MMOs, maybe it’s because the loot table is far more constrained in GW2?

Colin said the reward overhaul would happen in the second half and that a blogpost regarding that would come in late July.

AFAIK we’re still in the 1st half and this achievement reward system was talked about earlier in the year.

So no, this is completely separate
