Just saw about 5 bots gathered together and I managed to report 1 until they all just vanished while I was approaching them. I’m sure they were bots but they were well geared, all had luck sigils on and were huddled together. I JUST MANAGED TO GET A SCREENSHOT OF THEM WARPING WHILE TYPING THIS POST LOL I watched closely this time and it looks like they’re teleporting instead of running around. I have a gaming computer and my internet connection is pretty epic. I doubt that I was the one who was lagging.

Not sure if this is the right section to put this in.

you should remove the screen shots from this forum.
you can’t have screen shots from people names if acussing ( even if they are botting)
as for the teleporting there using teleports for months now, making it harder to report.
but just keep trying

Alright, gotcha. Still, kinda hard to report them each when they keep warping all over the place x.x

Seen many 3rd party misuse going on in MMOs, mainly botting. But it seems right now GW2 has a big problem security wise. I discovered this when I was in the inner part of a keep in WvW and they managed to fly over the walls and put a 50+ zerg inside the keep without taking down nor the outer wall nor the inner wall. You say mesmer, but the alliance checked all cracks for mesmer when we took it. So, I wouldn’t believe it either when it didn’t happen almost right infront of me. No swords, no contested status. 1 min they where on the outer wall, the other minute they took the keep.

Botting is one, hacking the system and doing things that a normal user can’t do is a whole other thing.

Dont report if your not sure, because you can get banned for making false reports. Also, your wasting your time reporting, they will not do anything about it. There are measures they can take to detect bots so if they are serious about it, it shouldn’t be needed for players to report.

yeah what sostronk said.
if you wanna see bots, check Orr and Southshore cove area. You`ll find Plenty.
IF AN would want to do something about it and even if they would not be able to find an automated way (which is absurd) they could send 1-2 guys to roam the servers and check a few zones. They could mark / ban them individually and manually.
but meh.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Exploit Just saying. It’s just sad to see so many loopholes in the system, and as a software engineer, i can say for sure, that fixing / detecting most of them would require only little effort.

Detecting non-cheating bots is actually more complicated as hey act very much like real players and the differences are very subtile, even though there are many and every human could spot them.

It boggles my mind that even to this date there are zero server side checks being done on player movement that would at least prevent teleportation, clipping and limit speed hacks to a certain maximum speed.
I understand ANET wants to be efficient with their resources but this is inexcusable.

I see this teleporting thing a lot as of lately. They are doing the teleporting from one farming node to another now as well, ignoring mobs (I was farming some mats and watched many bots one after another keep porting around and grabbing nodes that were up – just appearing, gathering, disappearing, appearing at the next node, repeating).

After reading report after report about those masses of teleporting gathering bots, I saw one of them for the second time ever (and I play a lot, daily). I wonder why some people seem to see loads of them and I do not. You can trust me to be extremely sensitive to the botting issue, as I was kind of “forced out” of my previous game (Lineage2) because I could not stand the rampant botting there anymore.

So after seeing that one cheater yesterday, I decided to stick around the node and wait, and report all the other teleport bots. Long story short, I spent 35 minutes sitting at that node, and in total I saw and reported only two teleporting gatherbots (including the first one that made me stay and lurk).

Now, maybe it was a node that was not “extremely desired”. It was a “rich” node, but only platinum. Can anyone recommend me a permanent rich node that I can go and sit for a while and report those masses of bots porting in and out, or are people just exaggerating so much?

From what I seen groups of bots are usually the same account so if you report one Anet knows the account.

This guy must be one of the botters. Of course you should report them. You are not wasting your time.

Interesting, they have it in their own wiki. Look, after being surprised our own keep I logged out of WvW immediately. That kind of cheating is too much.

A system should easily detect that someone is flying through the air what ever. How can the client decide where the character logged out anyway. Shouldn’t that be stored server side?

Doubt this. Nobody can be sure. Especially when it is a naked ranger walking in circles xping. Any none bot could do that just to save repair cost.
