Guild Wars 2

As title says… it’s around 1 year (probably more) that i dont play GW2…
bought a new PC in the meanwhile (for other reasons) and saw the expansion’s announcement….
and so i thought to give it another try (mainly because of my love for GW1)

So i’ll go straight to the point:

Can you name me which are the 3 top classes in the current meta and, beside WvW,
what are the main things ppl play/do these days? (idk maybe specific dungeon runs etc…)

Once i get these infos i’ll browse the forums to get some more specific answers but first i’d need these general ones.

PS: feel free to post any other extra infos that you think are important and that i should know.

It’s kinda hard to say 3 points cuz you might like way diffrent stuff then I do, but i’ll list some at least.

1. World Bosses – There is a new thing called megaserver which means there are people everywhere now, you won’t wander around and not see anyone that’s for sure. The world bosses have changed a bit triple wurm is extreamly hard now and needs really good coordination.

2. PvP – This is a personal referense. I do enjoy the PvP more and more and they are testing new matchamking formulas and had a test ladder a month or two back.

3. HoT – THIS!!!! With the new expansion coming man, the things to do and what people do will change so much. New WwW map and redoing the core of it. GvG is promising, specelaziatons, REVENANT, gliding and so on.

It’s really hard to say what kinda stuff you will be doing once the expansion hits the store. My suggestion to you is go online, try to find a nice guild ( if you don’t have one already?) and be patient for 6 weeks. Get back into the combat and the flow of the world and be ready for what lies next!!

About meta classes, i’m pretty sure engis and eles are way up there, balance patch incoming tough.

And what about classes? I used to main Ele, is he still on top of the food chain? xD

I think i’ll start slow with a lot of PvE and come back to PvP only later.

So PvE wise is Ele still good (any “clearly better” builds for it?) ?
Or i better lvl up some other class… i should have also Guadian, Warrior and Thief

I understand those are “long/hard questions” to answers so… if you could point me out some links for PvE builds etc it will be ok

From what i understand now also exist some kind of tomes/scrolls to fast lvl up… any info about those? (meanwhile i start browsing)

For what I know, elementalist is pretty much on top of the food chain, at least for PvE, in dungeons.

Good places to get builds: dulfy.net and metabattle.com.

For general speed runs of dungeons, the tiers would be

Top: Warrior, Ele, Guardian
Middle: Ranger, Thief, Engi
Bottom: Mesmer, Necromancer

Mesmer can be rated higher in dungeons where reflects are much needed.

Ele is also on the top in PvP too. They’re in a really good position right now, so enjoy while it lasts

Anything else that i should know?

Leveling experience was changed to something that needs a bit more work to unlock everything, especially the traits. That only applies to new characters you create today, not ones you created before you left.

Regarding PvE? If you’re a fan of world bosses, and in case you’re guild isn’t very big, I’ll leave this treat here for you: gw2community.com does 3 daily organized Triple Trouble runs, every day (12.25, 16.55, 19.55).

Join their TS (info on website; Tri-wurm channel 1) about 30mins before the event to learn how it will work; they will explain every time. Until they tell you to be ready, just do whatever you want (events, slacking). If they have enough people, they can do more that one event at the same time.

If you don’t have that Great Jungle Wurm Slayer title, it’s a great way to get it; it’s how I got mine.

I don’t know how it was back when you played, but now people farm Silverwastes (new zone) map for champ bags and karma (as well as other nice rewards – read Dulfy’s guides for info).

You have champ trains, world boss trains (just get into a party and run them down; again, Dulfy boss timer), Orr trains and other stuff the game had previously. With the megaserver system, you’ll see a lot of people everywhere you go. No more lonely roaming.

i dont have a guild nor friends playing right now,
assume that i’ll begin -again- alone, with close to none knowledge about “what’s new” beside what u are telling me here xD

(i do have technical knowledge tho, like skill trees, traits, etc.. those are kinda ok)
