This is mainly a question for Anet, but feel free to weigh in if you have more than a hunch.

Occasionally I will see a teleport hacker farming a node, but I don’t catch the name before they are gone. Are your log parsing tools robust enough that I can submit a ticket saying “Just saw a female human teleport hacking at the node near me” and you can track it down, or is it a waste of time without a name?

What I have done, and it does not always work, is to hit the print screen key to save a screenshot showing the name. I then add the name to my friends list, once added, you can report them easily. Much quicker then trying to select them and use the report menu before they disappear.

Not a bad idea, but often they’re too far away for the name to be up.

@ShiningSquirrel.3751: how can i know that a user will use a teleport hack before she actually use it? And after she use it, once is gone it is no longer possible to make it appear in a screenshot.

Yet i have to believe how hard could ever be to write an anti-teleport hack script server side.

If ANet is waiting for us customers to report every bot which herself alone can also isolate then it is like an unwritten invitation to every customer to use the hack :S

Very bad conduct.

It’s actually very easy to tell, if you see a naked ranger suddenly appear next to a node and start gathering, it’s a hacker.

I keep saying this, but don’t get too over zealous about reporting teleporting miners.

I’m not a bot, and I’ve gotten into the habit or parking my alts in front of resource nodes when I’m done with them.

Then when I decide to play next, I quickly pop onto each of my alts to snag the ore sitting in front of them before moving on with the character I want to play.

I often wonder how many times I’ve been reported.

I’ve seen many and they were not naked, last today in Orr -.-

Anyway it is just a simple server side script.

If the distance you covered from time1 to time2 is more than any distance you could cover with any boon you could ever get, and you did not used any waypoint, and it is happening often then you are using an hack.

So difficult.

Your forgeting about waypoints. With thosr you could travel any distance and depend on the scriping the hackes use it my be simialer to using waypoints

Sorry i wrote “spawn point” for “waypoint”, i corrected it, hope it is easier to understand, for you.

Not the same thing. The teleport bots gather far faster then any player can, that is why it’s so hard to report them They apear, seem to gather for a fraction of a second, then disappear. And honestly, do you do that with copper nodes? the bots do. If you go to frost gorge, you can watch the same bot go from node to node, instently disappearing from one and appearing at another. They gather everything, copper, iron, gold, it makes no differance. I don’t think any legit player is going to camp a copper node when you could just run around the map and grab dozens in a short time, actually, the same for just about any resource with the execptopn of oricalcum, which is never really in the same place execpt for 1 or 2 nodes.
Or do you actually camp low level resurces? if you do, why?

I doubt you’re doing that jiggle-in-place that the bots do while harvesting a node, either

I’ve been noticing these “teleport” bots more in the past few weeks. It’s much different than another character you see running up to an ore node. These are where I’m sitting there mining and suddenly they appear out of nowhere, they mine the node, and poof they’re gone. I saw two earlier today. I clicked on one to see the name and once it was done mining, it was gone and the target information was gone.

A couple of times I’ve seen them bounce around the ore node like they were continuously running into, looking all glitchy. The first time I saw it, I thought it odd, but blew it off. Now that I’ve seen it more often, I’m convinced it’s a bot or some sort of hack. The very short amount of time that they appear, mine, and disappear is too quick.

It’s annoying cause here I’m slogging away on map completions on an alt, selling off what I can to make a couple of gold, and these people are taking advantage of some hack and getting away with it.
