Guild Wars 2

My wife and a couple of friends have played GW2 for the last couple of weeks and I want to surprise them by showing up in the game. Yes, I am a real Mr. Wiggly. ;-) (Clara’s husband in the web series The Guild, for those of you who don’t get the reference.)

I already bought GW2 (Digital Deluxe Edition) & installed it on my pc. I know one of my wife’s character names and I think I (sort of) know the name of her guild (not entirely sure of the spelling).

The only problem is: I don’t know what server she is on. I’m a Lord of the Rings Online player and there I would just make an account on every server and then search in-game for a particular character. However, GW2 has a different world system (or so I’ve read) and I want to get it right from the first time.

Any suggestions? Apart from actually asking her (or my friends) or hacking her account (which I would find inproper to do).

I guess you could ask other players to add her name and see which server is she on.

Feign muted interest standing over her shoulder while she’s on the character select screen. Ask to see her characters! The server will be listed with other character info as the last item in the list, bottom left of the screen.

Best bet would be to ask one of her friends and hope he/she can keep it under there hat

Yeah, the account is bound to a single server, as opposed to individual characters.

Other than asking, you could always ask them to give you a demo of WvW. You should be able to work out then what server their on

If it were me i would create a character on a server of your choice, play a little get a feel for the game. When she gets home and boots up her game, do what Raine suggested and see what server she’s on. Then casually go boot up your game, do a server switch and join up with her.

@Raine hey that sounds like an excellent suggestion! I’ll try that and report back if it works out ok. :-)

EDIT: I did it just like you told me, and it appears that her server is Desolation. However, the server selection screen tells me that it’s full. So I guess I have to wait a bit until it’s less crowded before I can start playing GW2.
