I’ve played several mmo’s over the last 10 years and none of them have been without problems. What really stands out to this player is that Arenanet cares. They communicate with the player base frequently and honestly. (Unlike my previous game where it was all talk and not much else.) Since I started playing, I’ve watched a lot of dev interviews, etc. and I can sense the genuine passion they have for the game. That’s not to say the game is without problems. I’m just pleasantly surprised that Arenanet doesn’t make me feel that they are only interested in my wallet but about my experience and fun. It’s never really been about the money. Make content worth experiencing and the players will come and gladly pay.

Yeah there is a good reason a lot of people support valve even if they make an occasional bad decision but not say EA.

ArenaNet staff does everything in their power to stay on track independently of the bad management out of Korea whom have no love of western markets. Their not allowed to say it but we all know where the bad policies end up coming from, and its not from anyone with an @Arena.net address…

I really wish this was true, but its always been about the money. Companys have gotten good about spinning things like how much they care for the customers ect. You see this in every industry not just gaming.

Thor. Of course the game is made to earn money. Nobody is going to code this thing for years and expect no return. Companies exist to make money. It does not mean they don’t care about their customers. And just because some other companies do not care about their customers does not mean Arenanet doesn’t care.

@Khye

You’re a good example of a delusional fanboy. “but.. I just know that they truly care about me!” In the gaming industry money is king nothing else matters.

When GW2 was selling significantly faster than ANet anticipated, they turned off first-party digital sales, the very sales that make them the most money, so that people who had already purchased the game wouldn’t have to deal with unbearable network lag and server instability and would be able to enjoy the game.

Think about that for a while.

Which I’m sure someone at NCsoft was screaming at them over. I guarantee there is at least one exec still fuming over this decision.

Stuff goes here.
