Only 1 Zephyr Rucksack left in TP
This one is only for you.
For everybody is one “left”
Wow! Guess I should sell my skins…for pete’s sake, I had no idea. Lol.
That is crazy. I remember I bought this for my charr warrior in 2014 and it was just 40g
The cost of being a hobo is surprisingly high …
I think it would be totaly wrong to reintroduce stuff from years ago for people who weren’t playing when these things were available. It’s a good thing that some things can’t just be aquired; that you had to be there to get them. And I’m talking as someone who mostly missed out through lack of attention to PvE.

We had the whole backlash against time-limited PvP achievements and season 1 for a reason. Loyal players are rewarded with the birthday gifts and free living world episodes, and some things are more easily acquired for active players were around. What else do you need?
Having time limited content is just bad business. It drives players away and it is a waste of resources building things they can not monetize further. I don’t even care if they put skins like the Sun/Wind Catchers in the Gem Store (for example), it’s just silly to make content for a limited time only just so some people can feel like special snowflakes.
Realistically I think they could put the Zephyrite items as a reward track.

I completely disagree with the principle expressed by the OP: there’s no reason why everyone needs access to every tradeable skin. I think it’s more interesting that some skins are more common among veterans while others are more common among newer players. I also think it’s an interesting way to distribute wealth and it allows for any player to speculate on the possibility that hoarding might turn out to be profitable.
I certainly don’t mind when ANet re-introduces older skins (especially if the acquisition method is comparable). All the same, I think the game runs just fine if there end up being no Zephyr Rucksacks for sale on the TP.
@Dreamhiker: you might have bought that sack from me; I think I sold my last one for ‘only’ 40g (which seemed a nice profit at the time).

If that stuff had been account bound from the start it would be different (though I’d still disagree with you).
But since they were tradeable, this argument doesn’t apply. As anyone could have that skin, regardless of whether they played back then or not

Right. “Anyone could have” doesn’t need to be the same as “everyone can have.”
Bur the more unobtainable stuff a game has the less people put into it because they have already missed out.
Same with me, since I missed out on quite a few things and the game just kept pumping out Cs weapons I just stopped spending.
It would also mean more for people to do so they would stay around for longer.

The game has so many skins that I doubt that any but 1% of the 1% could possibly obtain it all; there’s plenty of stuff to do. People don’t stick around because people always look for new things to do; even great games start to get dull if you play long enough.

Right. “Anyone could have” doesn’t need to be the same as “everyone can have.”
You misunderstood. The only limiting factor is the low supply in the game versus the amount of players. But since you didn’t actually have to have played the content, or even had an account back when it aired for that matter, I don’t see a point in artificially limiting the skins like this.
Because of the fact that they are tradeable, using the skin doesn’t mean you played the game back then. So what point does keeping it exclusive serve? None.

They weren’t “artificially limited” — they were tied to content that has since been removed from the game. ANet isn’t “keeping it exclusive;” they are doing nothing at all — they’d have to go out of their way to “artificially un-limit” the supply.
While I’m fine if ANet chooses to do that, I’m equally fine if they don’t. I don’t think every skin needs to be obtainable by everyone, regardless of the source; there are plenty of skins in the game.
I have to agree. There are so many wasted assets in this game, it’s mind-boggling. All the Black Lion weapon skins we can no longer obtain, items from one-time or time-limited events that no longer happen, etc. The only limiting that makes sense to me is having items that are only available during seasonal events. Those happen every year, so players get multiple shots at them. What’s the point of locking away assets that players continue to be interested in? Seems like a huge waste of development time.

but thats only assuming they weren’t there playing. What if they were, do they still not have the right?

Exactly this. I remember picking mine up for a similar price on my Charr guardian!
The Zephyr Rucksack Skin is currently an unobtainable item (save for the TP or those who might still have funds to purchase it from Terksli in LA) due to it’s acquisition method being content that is no longer playable/removed from the game.
Do not be so let down though, ANet has on very rare occasions re-introduced so called unobtainable items/skins in the past.
Examples being:
- 2012 Halloween Skins (A further 100-200 instances of each of these weapons became available through a raffle during Halloween 2014.) Source: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Halloween_skins
- Selfless Potion and Thoughtless Potion (Escape from Lion’s Arch was released on February 18, 2014. Mordremoth’s Minions Invade Tyria was released on September 10th 2015 to September 14th 2015) Sources: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mordremoth's_Minions_Invade_Tyria and https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Escape_from_Lion's_Arch
That isn’t to say these items are permanently available again – there will always be people slowly buying up stock on the TP and those items will once again seem rare/near unobtainable. A perfect example was the Ghastly Grinning Shield Skin dropping to around 250g or less upon the influx of them via EITHER the lottery (correct me if I’m wrong!) OR that one time some dev mentioned other “expensive” skins being mystic forge-able, even the shield:

Do I think the Zephyr Rucksack Skin and other items in a similar position are gone forever? Not completely. I am inclined to believe they will be re-introduced via some method or another like ANet has proven to do with a select few items in the past.
Then again, it’s ANet. You could be waiting a year or four. Just sayin’.
