Open Raids (Public Raids) in Guild Wars 2
Maybe I’m not pve expert but isn’t this what world bosses/hot meta maps are already?
This already exists in the game
Is not the same, One thing is you all call META EVENTS the other is open raids, anyone that have played the open raids like in Blade and soul and other games know the difference. is not the same by a mile.
5) People can get better gear and be more prepare for Group Raids.
6) Can start the legendary armor collection. Why I’m gone do Group Raids if I can do Open Raids?
The answer is simple, because bosses don’t drop lot in Open Raids and you are gone lose the opportunity of getting the unique bosses rewards.
It would seem to me that 5 & 6 contradict the idea that loot does not drop in a hypothetical Open Raid.
Regardless, loot is going to be the sticking point for the idea.
- If no loot, no replay value, so development resources would be wasted.
- If loot, then existing raids are devalued.
I believe you need to face the idea that zone meta events like DS are as close as this game will come to what you want.
I’m not sure it can fit with current raids.
20 players for VG would be completely broken. Either people wouldnt know the mechanics and it wouldnt change a thing (= wipe cause no standing on greens) or it would be way too easy.
They have an easy version of VG already available in Bloodstone Fen, what’s wrong with it?
Oh, and for some fights like Sabetha, Sloth, Matthias, Xera, where one player can screw the whole group, you actually make the whole thing harder. If one dude doesn’t know how to kick orb at Xera or throw bomb at Sab, you can potentially wipe the group.
I like the current size of ANet’s raid team: they seem able to update/add to raids at a nice clip. I think it would be a bad idea to change the nature of raids and slow down that pace.
I think it’s good that the rest of the ANet coders can work on other aspects of the game, that include changes to the open world and ensure that, as it always has been, the vast majority of content in the game is accessible to the vast majority of players.
