Opening loot on low level alts post HoT?
Can anyone help here? all the information ive found Googling is pre HoT – im aiming to have two characters sat at two different low levels if its worth it- im still also confused about Champ bags post HoT.
Bump..
Look on the Wiki as to what is in those bags. What is listed is all that’s there no matter what level the char is at.
That’s isn’t what I asked though, I dodnt ask what the bags contain I asked which character level to open on as its changed over time – its strange that something like this gets barely any replies
From what I’ve seen while doing time in the Silverwastes, HoT didn’t do anything that would make the above strategy less effective. I get significantly better returns by opening the green bags of gear on my level 53 than on an 80 (not even the rare rare drop can change that).
No idea. I open most things on my 26 engie since I’m too lazy for anything else. And it’s not to sell, I use the stuff.
Edit: Only is not open….
Level doesn’t affect what’s in the containers that say they are affected by magic-find. So there is no point sending those to a lower level character.
The ones that don’t say they are affected by magic find are the same as before. You get loot leveled to those characters.

I beg to differ, that is exactly the point. The LEVEL of items differs and thus the salvaged mats. For the ones of us working on making ascended gear, it’s the only way to get linen, cotton, wool, leather etc.
To answer the OP: no, didn’t chage. Regular bags – low level, rare gear bags lvl 80 ( for ectos)

Unless you are suggesting the magic-find bags(wyvern, mushroom, chak caches) are affected by character level you aren’t differing.

Very amusing …… I get linen, cotton, wool, leather etc from the bags that they are supposed to be in and all with level 80 chars. I have gotten all levels of equipment from and all with using level 80 chars. No my magic find is not that high, only about 130%

Up to the five-minute prices are used to determine the most economically efficient level for gear that drops from bags. Typically, L53 is either the top or so close to the top that it’s the only sub-80 you “need” for profit.
There are some caveats:
- The site assumes you salvage all gear.
- The method assumes that you sell the mats within the hour. “Value” for retaining or selling later will vary from that.
- The method assumes that there’s no value to you for bloodstone dust (true for a lot of people, not for everyone though).
- Also assumed: that the value of any random exotics you get is negligible. (A good assumption for fewer than 10-20 stacks.)
- Also assumed: that you wouldn’t have gotten an ascended drop (definitely a good assumption).
- For most of the last 2 years, L53 has been best; when it hasn’t, it’s been 85-95% of the value of the ‘best’ level.
A decent rule of thumb:
- Have an L53 toon to open all gear bags.
- Open champ bags with that same toon, unless you need bloodstone dust or you are opening stacks and stacks and stacks and hoping for good luck.
- If you can, also have an L45 and an L33 toon (in that order) so that you can use those, depending on the advice of the site.
