Well after doing Fotm(fractals), i can say that, the encounters are pretty interesting, well designed, you can notice the difference, while normal dungeons are way somehow poorly designed. Regular dungeons could use some of the fotm design on bosses since a lot of them are just tank and spank. Please you have the potential you made really funny and interesting encounters in fotm why cant you do the same on regular dungeons? It would motivate people to stop the endless fotm farming and join some other dungeons to have some fun.

My biggest beef is the drops, running dungeons and comeing out with not even a rare at the end. The drop rate of rares in Fractal seems to be much better, through I would love to see more focused loot, why having done fractals I have 3 rare rifles and a Focus and I play a ranger. I am not saying a bow has to drop every time, but rares that I can use would be great.

Because of what I’ve seen from the FotM, I look forward to the mechanics in future dungeons.

The current ones mostly seem like a dry run. It would be great if they implemented improvements to them, but if I don’t see any by the end of march, I’m not gonna hold my breath.

By I do look forward to seeing what they do with new dungeons going forward.

On a side note, I notice that some players don’t really care how fun or boring something is: if it has awesome drops, it’s awesome; if it has sub-par drops, it sucks.

Here’s what people thought of GW1 when it first came out: http://tinyurl.com/bntcvyc
“A release is 7 days or less away or has just happened within the last 7 days…
These are the only two states you’ll find the world of Tyria.”

I think there’s some interesting encounters in the explore modes. Not all of them, but ya know that’s true for fotm, too. There’s definitely a tendency by the dungeon/fractal design team to put way more health on a boss than is needed to make it a challenge. If you’ve proven you can handle the fight, making it last longer doesn’t make it more fun, only proves you have endurance to press the same buttons. If my elite skill comes up 3 times on the same fight…

But the Dredge fractal, after the last boss my fingers are cramped from so much running, yet I’ve never seen it wipe. So what I’m sayin is, I think there’s a theme of making fights last longer than they need to across all of the content. Not that GW2 is the first game to do it.

If only you could use fractals at any armor vendor. Fractals aren’t bad, but they serve no purpose for my quest of armor and weapons skins that the other dungeons supply…And in all honesty, I’m fractaled out.

agreed some moments in fractals are epic.
some fights against bosses are really kitten good.

its just too bad the fractal lore is just, weak..
random past events that nobody cares about, a swamp? ah ok… its a swamp.

seriously anet are the kings of extremes.
really good amazing top notch magical stuff side by side with atrocious stupidities.

i dont understand them

fractals are just random well designed encounters that anet forces you to go thru by giving them very solid loot.

i hope when they said that they are overhauling the older dungeon they are saying the truth.
the old dungeons were… a mistake in gameplay design, for the most part.
starting with story vs explore modes, difficult camerawork in some cramped dungeons, broken mobs or boss (too much faceroll, or too much op), weird and poorly designed mini games.
all in all, im pumped with what they did with the fractal gameplay wise.
now, use that good stuff and give it some sense instead of a consortium hanging out in LA that sends you thru a portal to do mini encounters of random unexplained events.
(that was lame… bordering lazy design)

Apply the bosses design/mechanics to normal dungeons and add some more(or higher chances) interesting drops → profit.

Same problems: No mechanics, no strategy, just kite and dodge. It’s difficulty is fake difficulty brought on by needing to stack Agony resistance. If it wasn’t for Agony the dungeon would be a faceroll even on the highest difficulty settings.

I just wish the loot table was as good in other dungeons as it is in Fractals.

It’s a pathetic attempt by ANet to get people to play Fractal content. The loot tables should be the same everywhere.
