Wait so why these ore valued than gold ores when gold seem to be a big rare metal for coins?
You learn something new every day… fascinating…
This will no doubt be added to the mining train’s route soon!
Thank you for posting this. Had no idea it had real origins based on historical accounts.
Interesting stuff. Hope they learn more about it. It would be neat to have more solid info.

Archaeological Institute of America also had an article:
http://www.archaeology.org/news/2874-150107-sicily-orichalcum-metal
The article says, “Analysis of the metal shows that it is an alloy made of copper, zinc, and small percentages of nickel, lead, and iron.”
I guess that would make our GW2 raw orichalcum ore something a bit different.
this is the reason I don’t like orichalcum being dark green in the elder scrolls games

Interesting OP. I just assumed it was a made up name. Thanks for the info.
“The ingots were made from orichalcum, a rare cast metal which ancient Greek philosopher Plato wrote was from the legendary city of Atlantis.”
Problem is, we don’t actually know what orichalc was supposed to be, and the ingots found were in no way labeled. Thus, saying that they are the orichalcum is a guess at best (and a cheap publicity stunt at worst).
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Yep, not only Orichalcum, but also Omnomberries. Those were holy fruits to the ancient Andean nation of Omnom before they were extinct by the Aztec ruler Tlacaxuatl in 1337.
