Guild Wars 2

At Winter’s day we are supposed to get a letter called “Orphan Laine’s Letter” which gives “star of gratitude” as a reward. Now i had this letter sent to me and I thought it was useless because I just started playing Guild Wars 2 , so i kept the letter until winter’s day was over and somebody told me i cant do this event anymore so i just destroyed the letter.

Now I regret this decision so much because other people said that I can actually do the event even if winter’s day is over.
So I just want to ask can i do the event now ? and if so is there a way to get the letter again , i would appreciate it if the staff can resend the letter.

You can’t, as far as I’m aware.

You need 2 NPC that only appear during wintersday. One will sell you special items and the other you have to slowly defeat him, it takes 3 days to do so. Since neither is available, the first part of the quest is not doable.

Guess that the second part, doing the fetch, can be done outside of wintersday. But not sure if you have to be inside that period to actually get the reward.

To keep it short, if you never did the first part, than its a no, it’s not possible. If you finish the part of defeating the guy that stole the presents, it might be a maybe you can finish it.

I also don’t believe you can still do it with Wintersday being over. You deleted correctly IMO.

But the chef is still active, seen him in LA.

I know it is a small comfort… but I could kinda see it return next wintersday, so you and others who didn’t do it for whatever reasons, can get another chance at it.
Like the others I don’t think you can do it currently.

You can only still do this IF you started it before Wintersday ended. My husband actually finished his up just a few days ago. The chef is still active (moves to a different city location every day), and the NPCs will still show up in your instance if you either started the chain before Wintersday left.

I had this letter in my bags for a long time while inactive over the holidays. I could not find the NPC to start the event so I just deleted it last week. I imagine I’ll get something new to do next Wintersday so I’m not too worried about it.

Nope. You can indeed still finish the quest, but you had to start it during the wintersday event. The letter never did anything more than simply point you to the right spot.

Ah ok. I just assumed that the letter would actually still work. I’ll edit my above post and such.

Okay, so I didn’t start the quest chain because I assumed I can do it anyday. I have Princess, Mawdrey II, and now I found out that I won’t get Star of Gratitude. Please, can some Dev confirm that I can still complete this quest during the next Christmas? Or will there be at least some other quest to get some item that will consume Emp. fragments?

Yeah, I screwed myself out of this. I had limited play time over that period and logged in once. I got the letter, read it, went to the relevant Home Instance, and what didn’t I do? Talk to the kitten NPC. I’ve played MMOs long enough to know better. Sigh.

Actually I remember I talked to that NPC That wasn’t enough… You actually need to bring that NPC some food and after that, you get some Display Case and that will unlock that quest for Emp. star item.

edit: I actually couldn’t play because of my health. I almost lost my sight during the Christmas

Since 2/3rd of this is still in the game I assume the grawl will be back next wintersday but how exactly is that supposed to work? Usually when they repeat stuff people who have done it the previous year can still do it again like the achievements for the toymaker titles. Is a different grawl going to show up or maybe Grawnk used a wp …

The letter never did anything. The important thing was the Grawl. If you completed the three day quest with the Grawl then you’re good to go. You can finish the even by going to the six different types of chests. Even now in July they continue to drop those stupid boxes full of tinsel.

If you did not do the quest with the Grawl then your best case scenario is to wait until Wintersday next year. It’s hard to say how they’ll deal with it.
