I did 2 Orr Pack Events (Defend outpost and Escort mission) but, didn’t get credit for daily group events. Orr pack events (defend outposts, escort missions, etc) aren’t group events, really? So what are group events?

Group events literally would say [Group Event] in the title. The most popular ones are the dragon events and map bosses, though there are others.

Group events are designated such based on the developers perception of the difficulty and whether you need a large group to finish it, where as the Orr defense event just happen to attract lots of players because of their profitability, but can otherwise be completed by fewer players (keeping in mind that most of the time you are seeing the scaled up version of event)

With Champions now part of Orr Events, they should be group events because you can’t solo mobs with champions.

champions are only part of the events when the events are scaled up.
If there werent 20+ people there it would spawn normal monsters again.
