Other MMO's make me realize how good GW2 is
The worst thing about the Neverweinter MMO is, i have to pay 190 Euro to play a Drow character… i love drows =(
Here, here!

For me Neverwinter (Nights) is one of the best, if not the best RPG ever, but for MMO Guild Wars 2.
It’s true it is a beautiful game, the machanics for events are second to none, they give you multiple options for leveling and completing events, there is no competition for resource nodes, and crafting (all except for jeweler) were masterfully designed, however there are a ton of issues that make me worry about the future.
it seems all future gear will either use laurels or the mystic toilet or RNG dungeon drops, instead of crafting.
the focus of the game seems to only be about dungeons for both improved gear and for future content like lore events as well as the only means by which a toon can make a living.
the economy is completely shot and now requires that players who were not here on launch day must go to the store and spend real money in order to get gold to gear their mains as well as their alts.
So while I do like their manifesto if they continue down this road I’m afraid they’ll lose more players then they’ll keep.
Refined excellent product!? If Anet doesn’t pay you, you are blind. This game is the most unfinished MMO I have ever played.
For me Gw2 is one of the best, if not the best MMO .
So this weekend i tried the Neverwinter MMO beta and while it was good it made me realize how good GW2 really is overall. The art is second to none, i mean the character design to the environments are really well done and you realize this once you see another mmo’s artwork. The combat is well done and the dynamic events are awesome. Neverwinter has the Foundry which will extend its endgame but i dunno if thats enough. I just want to say thank you to the Guild wars 2 team for creating such a refined excellent product and for not charging a subscription fee. Sure there were problems at launch but can you say any other MMO didn’t have problems? Here’s hoping that GW2 has a long life and keeps expanding on its successes and listening to its community to improve on its shortcomings.
I agree with the character design and over all graphics, they are frigging amazing, game looks kitten good.
Foundry tho, I’m assuming it’s the thing that allows you to make your own dungeons?
That thing sounds awesome, I would love to make my own content in the game to allow other to play it.
It might not be enough to make people to play Neverwinter, but it sure does sound awesome, at least for me.
Strange for me, Gw2 showed my how wrong developers can go about with PVP. While GW2 has some of the nicest visuals i’ve seen, to me it has the worst type of PVP and PVE content ever.
It showed me how badly can go about having longevity to the point where everyone i know who played the game quit within 1 month. But that’s my personal experience.
Absolutely agree, Khazz, by far the best MMO on the market right now, imo. It is ok this game is not for everyone, like Ikcen, apparently the game is not made for people like him, and there is nothing wrong with that considering there are plenty of other MMOs that do cater to more of his tastes.

Drow is playable, you are paying for the “background” of not being a standard evil drow. Quite the money grab on the Drizzt nerds out there =D
I’m a Forgotten Realms nerd too, but once I heard Crytpics name pop up a couple years ago, all interest was lost.
Ow – they set the bar a bit high for that (US$200). That’s only for the Founder pre-release edition no less (though they’re also throwing in stuff like VIP priority in login queue – yes you read that right). Money grab indeed.
I’ll just go back to dropping all online gaming, if GW2 does not pan out. Probably re-focus my spare time helping with Icinga/Nagios instead.
I like to view MMOs through the lazy eye of a Systems Admin, and the critical eye of a
Project Manager. You’ve been warned. ;-)
yes.
Vertical progression GW2:
sword A = Damage 10
sword b = Damage 14
Vertical progression WoW :
sword A = Damage 10
sword B = Damage 9999999
Although, I’m thinking now, assuming that the game wont be a money grabbing wh… which from what I read just now, it seems it will be, a mechanic that allows players to put out their own content in a game could very well be a thing that will in fact keep pve players playing it.
Gabe Newell, founder of Valve and Steam, said that they thought to be the most productive company before they released Steam Workshop and realized just how productive the people who played the games were, and said that they could never hope to compete with them, so a game where there is always a new dungeon to crawl into a new story to unfold, could very well be a thing that will attract a huge pve community.

You obviously didn’t play many MMO’s then. Should’ve played WoW first couple years after launch or SWtor. Both a lot worse than Guild Wars 2 at it’s current state.
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
GW2 does have nice graphics, but people don’t stick around for nice graphics.
I bought GW2 because of their manifesto they brought out pre-release only to be let down when I realised is was all exaggerated marketing hype.
But it does have nice graphics.

This must be your first after WoW, i suppose?

I’ve played a lot in my time, and i wouldn’t call GW2 a “refined excellent Product”, unless you mean Refined as in whittled or dumbed down from the original, then yes we agree..
There’s something on your nose!?!?
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!
“GW2 the game with more rolls than roles!”
I wouldn’t call GW2 refined, it certainly has its flaws and screw ups, but it’s fresh air compared to other MMORPGs I’ve played. If people think ANet screwed up big time, they haven’t seen how badly other MMOs screw up. Not even Lost Shores can compare (although incidentally, I actually liked Lost Shores).
There’s something on your nose!?!?
Yeah, what’s that brown stuff?
I play SWTOR and TERA on the side. They’re both good games in their own right but man do I miss these gw2 features:
individual loot drops
individual gathering nodes
exploration activities such as Vistas and SPs
dynamic events of course
experience from crafting
moving while attacking
moving while channeling
dailies not being tied to an area or quest chain
multiple dungeon paths that give the same tokens
level scaling
dyes
melee auto attacks that do damage in an arc
EDIT:
collectibles tab
AH browsing from anywhere
teleports without long CDs
GW2 is far from perfect, but these things keep me playing.
