After completing my warrior , getting all the good stuff like legendary and t3 . I tryed to make other classes but I couldnt. Deleted them all around lvl 3. I have tryed different weapon sets in PvP with various builds but its just so dull . I have a thief and those are the only classes I can play .

Thief and warrior are both fast, short cooldowns , very spammy and thats the playstyle I like . When I made a guard it felt like in slowmotion . I made a ranger … I couldnt stand the weakness of ranged weapons . Mesmer was kind of cool but I am a terrible mesmer so I got stomped over and over again.

I cannot play ele because I am too lazy to reach the f1,2,3,4 buttons and the lagg would also make it worse. And the other classes are just meh.

Note: In guild wars 1, I got every class to max level except ritualist and mesmer . I liked them all equally ( warrior and assassin a bit more of course) . All of them had expensive weapons and armors . My ranger , yes the ranger had a storm bow , one of the most expensive weapons back in the day .

But in gw2 the classes feel the same and boring . What’s the difference between warrior’s sword skills , thief, mesmer, guard, ranger? None! All of them have some sort of spammy evading attack and a gap closer . There is 0 difference between sword skills across all the classes. Why would I play anything else besides from warrior and thief ? There’s no reason anyway.

Seriously anet , its time to add new weps and skills . In gw1 they felt all different . The build diversity was amazing . Even my warrior here in gw2 has only 1 viable PvE build and 2 viable pvp builds. And I cant even change the weapon skills…. Why are we so restricted ? The balance is already terrible , dont be afraid to add new skills

well when you start with easy mode, usually everything else is just too hard to get into. after playing thief in wvw at level 80 i was seriously taken aback at how much easier it was to play and deal damage with than both my engineer and necromancer(preferred classes) then after going back to my preferred classes i realized just how underpowered they were compared to warrior and thief.

I agree. I leveled an Elementalist to level 80 and then created a Warrior a few months later. I roflstomped everything up until level 50ish when I decided that it was TOO easy and I wouldn’t have fun playing the Warrior. Went back to my Elementalist and it was really hard to get back into.

…am I reading this correctly, you ‘completed’ your warrior and find pretty much all other professions boring? Warrior is probably the least challenging profession to play successfully in the whole game!
Or are you maybe confusing boring (which is often used similar to ‘too easy’) and difficult /less reward for more work?
Professions in GW2 obviously play very differently when you have trouble playing effectively on anything other than a warrior or a thief, despite most having access to the similar mechanics.

From your post I am not sure if you actually tried the other professions- lvl3?

Warrior and thief are very spammy, other professions not so much- what weapons and traits you use also make a huge difference in how a class plays and no- they are not all alike.

While I am all for more weapon skills – I think you need to explore a bit what is in the game already.

Warrior is the only profession I can’t seem to get to even level 20 due to boredom. It’s easy mode and you can level with 5 signets and be more than viable. The very definition of boredom.

My engineer on the other hand, is a keyboard dancing maniac that keeps me entertained at all times. The constant kit swapping and actually useful utilities make it the least boring class in the game.

I’d recommend trying other professions past level 3 to get even a remotely accurate idea of how they play. And don’t say all other classes are boring when you admit you’re too lazy to reach the F-keys. Warrior is easy to win with but I’d say the most boring class in the game.

Thats the thing I never said they were hard, they are boring . I already have a hardmode class to 80 which is thief . The squishiest class in the game. But thief is fast and has no cooldowns which makes it amazing . But some classes just cant move like necro\guardians. Extremly dull to stand still because of the lack of mobility.

And not only they are slow but they cant use many weapons.

My first character was a elementalist but I found it too hard and deleted it and tried a warrior it was fun and I got it to level 80 then I tried a thief and really enjoyed being more squishy and having to be more careful then when I got that to level 80 I tried another elementalist and now I love it I believe warrior is a easier class to play and now I have more experience with the game I enjoy playing a character that really needs me to kite the enemy use my heals crowd control and burst damage to take something down. (also levelling a engineer and having fun with that too)

I think it comes down to how you like to play do you
1. CHAAARGE!!!! GREATSWORD!!!!!
2. FIRE STORM BUURRRRRN!!!

Guardian has so many weapon choices I am not sure how many more you want.
you do realize your weapons skills give you movement options right?

while Guardians are kinda slow- they are hardly rooted to the spot.
With scepter/focus and staff mine seems pretty mobile to me

my Necro is not slow at all.
my mesmers are slow but they have so many evasion an movement options that it is irrelevant
I really think you should actually play the classes, because I am not sure you have.

I understand what you are saying, Warrior and Thief fit your play style. I’m one of those that likes playing all different classes. I find fun in each of them. Although I am having a hard time getting into my thief. He is the only class I don’t have an 80 in.

I find that I can adapt most of mine into the style of play I like. I also like classes that require more thinking to play. Ele and Mes are the natural classes that fit my style. That being said, I love my guardian and ranger.

For example: I have created a Guardian that is all about party support and keeping my group alive while holding my own in a fight. I really have to watch when I choose to use my skills and not just spam them.

I know not everyone is like this, but I try hard to fit every class into my play style.

Warrior is absolutely not spam autoattack to win. You need to maintain a rotation of vulnerability stacking, burst skills and completing axe autoattack chains in between times that these other things are on cooldown to maintain good DPS. If you just spam greatsword auto, your DPS plummets, and if you just spam axe auto you’ll have ~15% less DPS than a properly played warrior, plus you won’t be adding much vulnerability so it’s probably closer to ~20% less DPS.

Note this is for dungeons, in open world I can literally just do a hundred blades and everything melts, but open world is a giant pile of faceroll anyway unless you start soloing champions.

Try a condi necro with no familiars. Oh wait, you don’t want to press F1? Necro is out. So are engineers, mesmers, guardians, rangers and elementalists. I think you’re stuck though I think for burst damage on a warrior you need F1 so I think you have to throw away one of your biggest strengths.

All sarcasm aside, if the “F” keys are too difficult from your keyboard position, re-map them to closer keys or buy a gaming mouse. You are missing a ton of the game by limiting yourself to just pure DPS and the most basic class.

I had the same issue at launch when I started playing. The trick it to push through the learning curve. Once you get up to about level 30 of any class, you should have the mechanics down to the point that it is natural. At that point, you can really get some enjoyment out of the class.

I am not sure if the purpose of your thread of just to complain or if you are seeking advice, but I’ll give you my advice anyway. I recommend persevering and leveling any profession to 30 instead of giving up at 3. I bet you’ll be enjoying it by the time you make it to 30. The trick is pushing past the learning curve which might take between 20 and 50 levels depending on which profession you are playing..

Of course, that’s it. I’m not playing it properly. The fact that I can faceroll through the content with what you would consider to be a subpar build has absolutely nothing to do with it being boring. It’s the fact that I’m not playing it properly according to your absolutely correct standards. Gotcha….

Awww….. OP, you have to give them a chance! I have 16 characters of all types and professions. I have 3 human sister’s that all look alike with only a variation with their hair. Yet, they are all different enough to make them unique and enjoyable. It’s a character still, give them meaning and role play a bit.

Warrior was my first and still is my “go to” when in need of a heavy. My play style is a bit slower, more methodical, and supportive. Which leads me to enjoy running a Mesmer a lot too. <shouts>Portal anyone??

I find the professions to be no more or less difficult intellectually. Bouncing around all the professions can get a bit disorienting certainly until you get into the groove again. Though, with my hands, I have to admit the f1-4 are troublesome. Even on my Naga, rocking my thumb for 7-12 can be irksome to painful (literally). That’s why I prefer a bit more passives and will accept the shortfall’s that come with them. Even on my Mesmer, I’m running a Phantasm build over a shatter build.

For players who go straight for noob, L2P, etc… there’s more than “skillz” involved in creating ones overall performance. There’s a tech hurdle that can compromise ones capacity to perform. Then there’s technology and programming that aides greatly. (which shouldn’t be used!) Then there’s simple age and physical limitations. This is a game for everyone so, let’s keep it open!

I’m all for new professions though. How about another “Death Dealer” type class but call it a Valkyrie. I’m not thrilled with Necro’s but, like a profession dealing with life force. Then a good healer/monk please??? One that uses a staff like Bo Staff melee weapon with some magic!

btw…. Snowball Mayhem is the best PvP in the game. If you are bored, play that, as it’s only available for another week.

I have leveled 4 char’s to 80; guardian, ranger, ele & necro and enjoyed playing the four characters in pve & wvw. On the other hand i’m struggling to level up my mesmer, thief, warrior & engineer. Not sure if this is due to the amount of time leveling can take or a general lack of interest in those professions
