Just wondering, what people’s thoughts on not being able to cast out of range is. Take for instance, I’m a thief, I like to disable the target area circle since I consider it to be an extra click I don’t need. Here’s my problem. I’d like to use my shadow shot for instance and get out of the way as far as possible, or maybe use shadow step as far as possible, yet I’m left guessing the weapons range. I think it would add more fast paced combat and depth if I pointed my mouse in the direction and if my mouse was past that range , it would tp me as far as it can. Even with the target on the ground to help see, I’m always left losin maybe 100 or more on its range cause I only have a short window toget out and I want to do it fast.

Now it might sound like a L2P thing but it would also have a negative effect. I’d have to notice it for attacks. Like now if I fire a poison arrow, if I’m too far away its going to land short and waste initiative. So it works both ways.

This is my first MMORPG and I’m not sure if this is the normal way casting works for games. Just seems like a weird system.

I think just pointing in the direction past the target should just max out. I know this could be in the suggestions but I find it more of a gameplay aspect and wondered what the purpose of out of range is. Maybe it should have a toggle like the target on ground

It’s not the way casting works in most MMOs. I most MMOs you can’t cast anything at all without a target.

Did you realize there’s a red bar under each skill that tells you whether or not you’re in range?

No I did not notice that. That’s an interesting thing to see. Have to check it out tonight.

Don’t sweat it Meta. It took me a while and a forum poster to point it out to me before I noticed it too. It’s pretty subtle and isn’t explained in the game’s tutorial. However, once you know about it, you can’t miss it.

Re: “the extra click” .. you can press the key for the skill a second time instead of left clicking with the mouse.

it would be nice if for movement skills like infiltrators arrow if they treated them like the warriors Whirlwind attack. Instead of the normal targeting circle, it has a directional arrow pointing in whichever direction you wish to move.
