So I just recently came back to GW2 after a few months’ break, and while I mostly love the new Outfit/Wardrobe system…

Is there a reason why Outfits are unavailable as armor skins? It’d be really nice if you could mix and match some of the outfit skins. Keep them as whole outfits, sure, but why not add it to your wardrobe as well? This way, those who wants the entire set +/- the helmet isn’t affected, yet those who only want parts of the outfit can simply spend transmutation charges to get them.

Money wise, more people would be buying outfits too. I know many who would really love to have certain parts of some outfits, and would buy them if outfits were mix-able. Sales of transmutation charges would rise slightly too.

It’s a win-win! We get fashion, and Anet gets moneh.

There was a post back when town clothes were discontinued and outfits started which has some relevance, particularly these 2 sentences: Source (page 18)

(Snip)
“Outfits give us a way to create highly stylized looks that aren’t constrained to armor slots or weight class.” (Snip)

And this
(snip)
“there are some fundamental incompatible things between weight classes. (part of how we set up every armor to allow many dye channels and styles per piece)” (snip)

As I understand it, because of the way different weight classes are set up and with the different dye channels, there isn’t a way to gave the same look across all the 3 different armor types. The outfits are handled as a 4th armor type that all the classes can wear and it’s either a unified look or nothing.

Sigh, well, that sucks. Time for a refund!

On the bright side, the Phantom Hood can be used in battle now!

We need more of them, other F2P/B2P games have more cosmetic options; there’s a real aeon why Rift released a new free expansion and that might have to do with their cosmetic variety ( as well as their new class/profession options that they’re selling).
