Q:
Outfits vs Armor Skins
- An armor skin can only be used by 1/3 of all characters because armor is divided into light, medium and heavy. Thus to make armor skins for every class ANet has to make 3 skins, which is 3 times the work.
- Armor skins can be mixed with other armor skins for a more unique look. That’s why people love them and want mor armor skins (didn’t get any new in a long time).
- Outfits fit every character and thus ANet has to make only one to reach every character.
- ANet doesn’t have to pay attention to where to separate pieces into chest- or leg-armor since outfits are one piece (There are also armor skins that are not separated, for example Flame Legion Female, so this argument is kinda bad)
- Using outfits doesn’t use transmutation charges, which is the main reason why you’d use an outfit for alts.
My questions are… why would the armor skins (that force me to use the transmutation point) cost more than the outfits (which do not force use of the transmutation points). Armor skins = 800 gems. Outfits = 700 gems.
Why not just make all of them “outfits”? Is it to allow mixing and matching of various skins? Is it a ploy by GW2 to get you to spend more gems on transmutations?
Basically that.
Outfits can’t be mixed and matched. And only have 4 dye options. You’re stuck with what you get type deal.
Armor Skin can be mixed and matched, and have multiple dye slots (up to 4) for each piece. You can combine them with any other armor pieces you have unlocked for a full customized look.
Thus why, Outfits are cheaper than Armor Skins.
