Overflow on World Bosses and tremendous lags!

Hey

I’ve made this topic to inform u guys about one serious issue that is now happening with world bosses. Due to the loots imporvedemnt on all of them they are heavily farmed. Furthermore lots and lots of guesting players watch the Dragon Timer and guest the worlds where they can quickly do the event on their alts etc. making the native server players be thrown into overflow.

Last time I’ve waited on Shadow Behemoth for about 15 mins and still I wasn’t able to get onto the map to do the event – it was possible only after the event was done. This thing keeps us from doing the events on our servers. The only way do overcome this is to do the guesting thing ourselves, but this wasn’t the intention as I presume! Please do something with this.

Another thing is the tremendous lag….but I’m sure you know about that and work on that…hopefully

Thx for understanding!

Guesting isn’t the problem. You can only guest on 2 servers a day – no matter what character you are on.

The problem is the sheer amount of players. Everyone has come out of dungeons (and judging by the commander hats, WvW too!) for the increased rewards.

Think about it. We have 51 servers for 3 mil+ players. Thats upwards of 50k players per world, all logged in at prime time, all trying to do the same event at once.

If guesting was the problem we would have seen this problem LAST month when guesting was implemented.

Guesting is definitely a part of the problem. It causing all players interested in farming the bosses to stack to the servers that have the bosses running.

“If guesting was the problem we would have seen this problem LAST month when guesting was implemented.”

Incorrect. The loot was improved with the February patch making farming worthwhile.

True. A day after the update, I am experiencing very bad lag starting around 8pm (server time) and the lag will continue for the rest of my gaming time.

I have checked my ping and latency, they remain largely (90%) the same before the lag occurs and after the lag occurs.

During World Boss events, I cannot see myself attacking nor taking damage… but I am lucky enough to be able to see the chest afterwards unlike some unlucky friends of mine.

I also notice an influx of players in my home server and today I found out that people are guesting to hunt world bosses and they would stand there, hundreds of them just standing there for an hour in boss areas.

I do not mind missing a chest; I miss them quite a lot. But I do mind the very bad lag that renders the game nearly unplayable for me. After all, there is no “best items” in game and I do not “need” the loot.

Why would people “farm” bosses and with all their characters even is beyond my understanding; one boss specific chest per character per day… .. .

I hope ANet would do something about guesting… maybe you can only loot boss chest in your home world?

And for those who would shout: If I cannot loot all the boss chest with all my characters every single day, I would quit.

Well… I dont care. Loots are not “as important” in GW2. The environment, the gameplay, the dynamic world/event is what draws me to GW2 and GW2 is the only game like this that I am aware off. For “mindless farmers”, you can basically play any other MMO for that experience.

Hope something can be done soon…

Guesting is a very minor part of the problem. Everyone from your own server is going to these events so even without guesting you’d have the lag and overflows. Very few people are dumb enough to guest to high population servers just to do these events. All it takes is once to know it’s a much much better idea to guest to low pop servers.

these bosses should be on a more randomized timer.

to discourage camp farming.

Guesting is a big issue, without guesting, less people native to the server would be put in overflows.

Why dont the natives have priority to the regular map? As soon as there is overflow, the guests should be moved from the regular map to the overflow, so native can get into the regular one.

This would solve alot of issue, since it doesnt seem to work this way currently.

Guesting is IMO total BS. It would be fine at a friend to friend basis, but letting people pick an activie guesting server seems very wrong. If you wanna join a friend sure, but it should be restricted to joining people on your friendslist and not just joinign a random server.
