- New guesting option. I can’t do event’s on my home server.
- For only one chest per character. I can’t get it because i’m still on the overflow sever during the event’s.

How can we earn influence on the overflow servers for guild?

I would like to know how people know this is 100% caused by guesting and not a huge increase in the interest in these events from the current server population?

How big an issue is influence for maps that get overflows during the two step group events. Also the best solution for this is to get there early, spent maybe 10-15 minutes before the window or pre-events and just spend your time doing something like costume brawl or surrounding content, many people do this.

As title say, I am trown in overflow several times in row before the dragon events and i can’t complete them, guesting bring same issue. How to kill dragon in reasonable time (read my gaming time window of 3 hours in the evening between 18:00 and 21:00 CET.
Thanks in advance for sugestions.

I was very mad when I discovered you had to pay to change servers now. My boyfriend just started playing after buying the game from his brother, discovering we are not n the same server.

This means to play together, we have to guest. I would love to be able to guest more than 2 times a day.

Although, the guesting was a good option for players on different servers that would like to play together, it think it has been abused more aften than not (for world bosses fe).

Even with that, there has still been a huge increase in interest. Guesting existed longer than those overflows we have been having lately. With the new loots and other world bosses changes, the interest increased drastically.

Both combined with the forced guesting makes those hateful overflows.

All I can recommend is show up very early. I’ve never had a problem getting in 15 minutes before a window.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.

I thought about that, but it will eat most of my playing time just waiting. I tend to teleport to check up for dragons every 15-20 min, I am most interested in Claw of Jormag.
I guess it will turn in waiting wars.

Personally I do thank them for overflow servers… I’d honestly rather be playing on one even with no dragon event than just get a “sorry, area is full, go somewhere else” sign..

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

The overflow system is a joke.When the boss spawns, the overflow is always full…Problem is, Anet are so lazy to fix the lag in a proper way, if thats the solution they wanna use, well then, its time for me to find another game.Im not only speaking for myself.Alot of my ingame freinds, are very disapointed about this, a few allready left, cos they tired of Anet keep punishing the player again, and again, and yet again…So keep up the work Anet, if you want your game to fail, its allready starting to show cracks.

This is becoming some what of a hassle. Tried to do Shatter 3 times today on my OWN HOME server and got shoved to over flow. People of that server should have more priority over the gusting server ppl. Anet you REALLY need to fix this issue because your only going to lose people not gain people!

1) I do not believe this problem is because of guesting. It is most likely because people on your own server all coming to do the event because of the increased rewards in the chests.

2) Get there earlier. Instead of trying to show up 2 minutes before hand or after the fight has already started, show up soon enough that you have plenty of time for your queue to pop or early enough that there isn’t a queue yet. There is still plenty you can do in the zone while you wait.

Anet doesn’t believe in knowing when a big event is taking place unless you’re already in the area, therefore you should already be waiting there if you want to fight a dragon.

that brings up a cool idea: multi-zone chain events that draw people into big battles, such as dragon fights.

I’m not usually the one to say that, but judging by the quality of your message, you don’t deserve to be here.

Do you have ANY idea what kind of effort it is to optimize and synchronize all the live data necessary to render every toon and every special effect, on every client computer, during big events? To call their team LAZY is downright ignorant. Instead, perhaps try this perspective… The network programmers hit a throughput wall, and now they are in uncharted territories, sifting through (and designing) leading edge algorithms. If you had a clue about the scope of work involved in a game this size, LAZY would be the last thing to come out of your mouth.

What ArenaNET might benefit from is a scoreboard, a web page that shows:

  1. of open bug tickets, and running average of time per fix.
  2. of customer support tickets
  3. of new to-do tasks.

No details, just those.. and I’m sure you will see that the team are far from LAZY.

I think people don’t realize that there were dozens of overflows per server during the Karka event, and I don’t think “Guesting/Server Transfers” were abused then. You underestimate how many people are on your server.

So instead of lag. Now we just can’t attend events unless we are 15 mins early. I have arrived before the window on 5 meta events today and been overflowed. This is insane and an AWFUL fix.

From what I understand, you can guest on up to two WORLDS at a time, not two times a day but all day during that 24 hour period.

So yeah it’s great now that world events have guaranteed golds, but the fact that every event I have attempted has thrown me into an overflow, even when i had the prompt to join the main server I got an instant network error, why o why is it always 1 step forward 2 steps back with this game

Anyone who says guesting is not the problem does not pay attention very well. When i actually got Claw today i saw at least 20-25 people from guilds i fight in wvw. Guesting is a major contributor to this issue. Its not the whole problem but its a large percentage. There is no reason Guesting should override someone on their home server. That is clear and to the point. Make world bosses drop nothing for guests. problem solved

Got to laugh at the suggestion of ‘show up early’ when these events are being farmed. I thought I’d be safe turning up for Teq almost an hour before his spawn window was due to open and was shoved into an overflow. It’s simply ridiculous.

The buffed loot is causing the issue and everyone wants to farm them, and for those thinking that guesting isn’t adding to population … really? There are bots farming Southsun Cove driving up prices of sigils (+damage to karka) and some here don’t think these events are getting abused by guesting accounts?

Personally, I’d remove guesting all together but I know there are some that are using it honestly and that wouldn’t be fair, but it’s a broken system at the moment and it’s affecting more players than it benefits. ANet need to find some sensible solution to this as you only have to read main chat to get the thoughts of the masses.

Maybe pushing a guesting account to an overflow if someone who resides on the server is trying to get to that zone, but that’s hardly an elegant option either. Maybe keep guests in overflows? Whatever the solution, it needs to happen soon as the forums are flooded with the same type of complaints.

Seeing that you recently posted about not having people guest on high populated servers I’m guessing you’re on a high populated server… Or didn’t you notice that EVERY server is either high or very high in population.
Have you thought that maybe it’s not guesting that’s the problem but the mass influx of players from all over your server have gathered to one area causing huge lag and constant overflows?
These things have been happening WAY before guesting was enabled, remember Halloween? Lost Shores? FotM when that was released? All these lag and overflow problems are the results of a lot of players in 1 area, plain and simple.

I was going from event to event when we notice that there is no more lag from dragon but there is less ppl than before and for every map there an overflow now, sometimes there is an overflow 10 or 15 min before the window for the event, and when u get to the map there is like 30 to 40 ppl maybe less. So my question is did anet lower the capacity for maps?

If they thought about it, they’d realize there’s little to gain from guesting to another server for a dragon event (once per character per day, period), and absolutely none from guesting to one that’s going to be lag hell just taking the server’s own population into account.

Actually it does, you have 6 chars at level 80 you don’t have time to wait foro a dragon to be up, especially wne often you have more then one up at the same time, having 3 servers to chose allows people to do more chars at once, I only have 2 and it’s a pain on 1 server, not counting this stupid over flow problem.
