PS Checkpoints?
As far as I remember (having done almost all the personal story instances) that’s the only one that’s long enough for this to be an issue. Most of them are much shorter, but that one was originally a story dungeon so it takes longer.
Maybe I have a different perspective because I very rarely get disconnected from the game (although I have had to quit in the middle of an instance for other reasons) but I see this as a very minor problem. Yes it’s annoying to have to start over but it’s not a huge barrier to progress, you just need to wait until you feel like doing it again.

Yeah, wait until I’m ready to play Russian Roulette with my time again. Sounds like a real blast.
About the only thing I can suggest is take friend or guild mate with you so that if you loose connection- hopefully your place will be saved like in dungeons or one’s actually populated ‘Stands a chance’ Tequatle map. Although I don’t know if the game would boot them from the instance with the owner gone like it does when a player who owns a personal story leaves a personal story instance and the other players are forced out…
My guild came with me when I did mine- however the dreaded disconnect occurred to two of the helpers… Not me. Yes they reappeared- no problem…. But would the instance owner vanishing have spelled disaster?
Hmmm…
Checkpoints would certainly be nice though.
Actually, that might be a bug if you’re talking about the final act – my client crapped out at about the same place when I was going through. For what it’s worth, the second try was clean.
