Do not add it to your wardrobe before talking to Evon, he is not talking with me about it now

Edit: Ignore the paragraph below, it was a guess posted very shortly after the mini became available which later proved to be wrong.

I suspect (but have not yet confirmed) that the mini will be deleted when opened, so if you want both that and the red spark you’ll need to buy two.

That’s definitely how it worked with the old mini 3-packs where you combined them in the mystic forge to make a new one.

It seems like this was false alarm, I went to a different /ip of lion arch and it worked there. The chest mini did not get removed from the wardrobe or anything.

Where did you find him? The vault? I looked in there, but wiki says he’s there only occasionally.

He wanders from the Vault to the TP and back, and then stops in the vault for a while.

Well, I just typed a nice long guide to doing this, and got a forum error that ate it. Sorry ><

Anyway, short form is Evon eventually will come to his desk if you don’t find him elsewhere. He sends you to Metrica once you get him to talk to you (might need to be the only one hitting F by him). In Metrica you find an asura to talk to. Be the first to hit F when he starts walking, you get the dialogue while everyone else waits (I describe this in a Bug post). Go to north Wayfarer, the east side of the ice elemental patch just south of the Svanir ice fort. Kill the named elemental. Now you have five minutes to get to the Mount Maelstrom volcano and hop in the lava. Get a dialogue popup, get out of the fire, you should have your red spark in your bags.

At least we don’t have to buy 2 of these things and combine them in the MF to get the red spark.

Oh, and I left out (it was in my longer version) that Evon will talk to you when the box is in your wardrobe and displayed as your active mini. I did not try him with it stowed.

Yeah, I actually had to unlock it in the wardrobe before he would talk to me.

This is a repeat of the LS1 NPC debacle – I thought your supposed to learn from mistakes….

Well, I guess I’ll wait till (hopefully) they fix the Asura. I went to speak to him. Not only did he have a horde of people waiting there but no one at all could interact with him to start the next step of getting the second mini.

What worked for me was to go to another map, futz around, then go back to Metrica until I was in a different map. I could tell I’d reached another map because the asura was in a different place and the glowing green charr that kept being there each time I logged in was gone.

I looked in LFG but no one was posting. A bit later, after I’d done the quest line, I saw someone post in Open World “Looking for a moving Krepet” (which was likely a mystery to anyone not dealing with the mini chest). That might be a way to get a taxi to him.

On the plus side, I think it’s pretty cool that they put a small, non-grindy (if bugged) quest in the game to let us get extra fluff, though we did have to pay gems first to open it. Maybe they’ll give us more such things just as in-game fun stuff … /dreams.

I’m having the same problem, I was able to speak to Evon Gnashblade but I’m just getting default responses from Krepet. I’ve tried logging in and out to switch instances, but it’s not helping.

(And yes I submitted a bug report.)

I just got the spark. I did not have the chest unlocked in the wardrobe and just had it in inventory until I got to Mt. Maelstrom.

I was able to talk to Evon Gnashblade and get the next clue.

Krepet in Metrica was hard to talk to and may be bugged. You have to leave him alone and not talk to him for a while and once he starts to move hit F to talk to him. If you are the lucky one you get the next clue. I am not sure if this was intentional or a bug. I do know the more folk who clicked on him when he only says Greet he would not move for a while longer. Once they left him alone he finally moved and you had a shot to click on him.

The rest was pretty easy as the Veteran Ice Elemental was not too hard to spot (try looking north of the roadway from the fort though I think he travels quite a ways through the area).

Once you’ve killed him race to Mt. Maelstrom. I am not sure where the best spot is to go into the lava I went in on an outer edge area and it did not work and I died. I wp back (luckily wp was open) and finally opened and wore the mini then and hopped back in at the middle point and got the dialogue which opened the chest. I am not sure if it was the location or wearing the mini at that point but I finally got it.

Yay for Dulfy! Though seriously, she shows a far too long path into the contested volcano. Go to Sootberme on the west side and run northeast up to the high entrance, dodge the mobs on the way in, and run down the slope to the west side of the lava pool. You can run in to the lava on that side, the far side from the wp, and get the mini.

I was on my 25% run speed Daredevil, got shunted to a far wp, ported over to Sootberme, and still had a minute or two to spare when I jumped in the lava.

Looks like this patch fixed Krepet in Metrica so he talks to more than one person at a time!

And yet I still cant talk to him. Sigh….

So I’m guessing no fix in for this yet.

Yes. Put the mini in your mini wardrobe then speak to Evon. Then speak to Krepet (I had the mini out, but don’t know if that matters). Then kill the Elemental then waypoint to the second spot and go jump in the lava (I had to do the lava jumping twice. The first time I jumped off of one of the rock ledges that stick out over the lava. The second time I ran into it by going over to the edge of the lava then in). You’ll get a pop up notice that you now have the mini red spark (it looks more like an agitated ecto on legs, but that’s beside the point).

Yep. Add the Chest to your Wardrobe, do the quest, and then you’ll have BOTH of the minis.

Sometimes it takes evon a while to talk to you, I waited 5 mins just wait.

It took a bit of time chit chatting at his desk in the BL weapon skin building before he tells you who to see. It could take up to a whole minute.
