The new build gave us some nice balance changes for the revenant. Even though this is a good direction for the revenant, it really doesn’t add up for their lack of utility skills. It really suck that the revenant have 9 utility skills less than the other classes. (Not counting the racial skills)… The fact that there’s no more utility skills than what each legend can use, makes it feel fixated, as though there’s no versatility to it what so ever…

Or is that just me?

Devs only have 4 less utilities than other classes and you are leaving out the fact that at any given time a Revenant has 8 utilities slotted while all other classes are stuck to their set of 4 while in combat……

Last time i checked mesmer had 4 utility skills+5 F skills. Guardian had 4 utility skills+3 F skills, ranger had 4 utility skills+transformation to access 5 new “weapon” skills. Shall i continue?

Op stated specifically Utility skills, last i check F skills aren’t Utility skills, and again they get to use 2 separate utility bars not to include elites and heals….

The revenant have 15 possible utility skills, every other class have 24 +racial skills.
and yes, that gives the revenant a total of 10 combinations of utility skill sets… while every other class have 72 combination options.

The idea that the other classes have less options for utility skills is plain rubish. The elementalist have weapons that can be summoned, each of those are worth 5 more skills. the engineer can switch freely between it’s weapon kits, the warrior have it’s banners etc etc etc. there’s other classes that add additional skills. having 2 sets of utility skills is just not cool enough to weight up for no versatility and 9+ less skills than everyone else.

Again revs have 20 possible utilities 5 legends * 4 utilities each, the OP specified Utility skills, then there is the fact that revs get 8 Utilities, 2 Heals and 2 Elites at all times so for effective skills in combat they have more skills overall especially when looking at Meta builds and usages…….. and on top of that Revs have weapon swaps(which Eles and Engies don’t have) so when most other classes at any given time every other class has 6 less skills

Dude, most other classes have the same amount available as the revenant, some have a few fewer. The two you suggested have a lot more. The ele a minimum of 29 and a maximum of 45 and the engi a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 35. This is hardly relevant though so lets get back on topic shall we?

To be perfectly clear:
Skill 1-5 weapon skills. < these are not relevant to this topic.
Skill 6 healing skill. < this is not relevant to this topic.
Skill 7-9 Utility skills. < these are the only skills relevant to this topic.
Skill 10 Elite skill. < this is not relevant to this topic.

Skill 7 skill 8 and skill 9, that is 3 skills. the revenant have 5 legends, that is 15 skills.
Every other class have 24 skills + racial skills, that can go into these slots.

No, being able to switch your utility skills, does not make up for the lack of options.

I don’t even want to touch the fact of numbers. They are how they are. But what also comes to the Rev is the fact he can’t decide if he want other skill combination in his Utility skills. while other classes can try interesting and different combos the Rev can only have this 3/6 Utility skills. Yes between fights you can change legends, but this just forces this 3 Utility skills of this legend on you. I hope that in the future before they bring more legends for the rev, that they will bring new skills for the already existing legends.
But one more number play. an Ele can use more different skills then a rev. I am not so sure with the Engi or other classes, and I only count 1-10 Skills. I don’t say it is bad. Some classes should have more skills, that makes them harder to master and more diverse to play. But potential numbers are still a fact.

I don’t care in the least if one prof has 100 utilities and another has 30; it’s no different than some profs having access to more weapon skills than others. It’s the quality of the gameplay that makes things interesting, not the quantity.

For me, the revenant is a little dull: it’s not great at any niche, it’s not horrid at any niche; the style gets a little repetitive; and there’s not enough imo to distinguish the legends. Maybe that is rev’s niche: to be the benchmark of minimum effort builds.

But none of that is due to the “lack” of skills.
