Not including dungeons and fractals, doing Dynamic events, hearts and jumping puzzles doesn’t give enough reward for it’s difficulty. I also want to avoid talking about champ train simply because it’s boring. I spent a lot of hours on it because the reward is good but then again, I won’t understand anyone who’s having fun doing the train for hours. Reward for jumping puzzle that can take you for hours if you don’t read a guide? It’s equivalent to a single champ that can be killed within a matter of seconds.

Dynamic events are not so bad since they give you not so much karma and experience you need if you’re leveling up. They’re also good for killing 2 birds with one stone when near on a heart. Let’s talk about the heart. Do a hundreds of them and probably you’ll get 1 gold. How much time would that take? What items would you receive? Of course not equivalent to people doing the profitable but non fun stuff.

While we’re talking about PVE, does anyone still farm at Southsun Cove? I only see people go there during the Karka queen event. I tried farming for T6 mats there but man, trophies everywhere. Trophy sounds like a reward in real life but not in gw2. It’s junk. I think 150% MF is not to get me something good.

This is just my opinion. I might level up another character using hearts and dynamic events if there are some things that I can look forward to.

Welcome to Grind Wars. Do you want meaningful rewards for your time?
PvE: Dungeon speedruns (of course berserker only), champion trains
WvW: PvD
PvP: Skyhammer farm

There were many suggestion how to fix those issues, to make whole game rewarding. More rewards for when you do dynamic events alone/in small group, redesign of bossfights from one hit KO to sustained damage. Rewards for defending in WvW, splitting zergs. Rewarding skillful play and securing balanced matches (no 4v5 or 3v5) in PvP. Anet just decided to ignore them all.
They were unable to do even simple stuff like making useful guild roster with “last seen” and other features you see in every other MMO. I doubt they would be willing to just adjust values in database. It so “much” work. Instead of fixing old stuff they will just throw new bone aka Living Story to players to forget about old issues. New zergfest every 14 days.
That wouldn’t be so bad if the game could handle it, but they are promoting those zergfests although there is 1-2 sec skill lag.

TLDR: Do you want rewards? Join the zergfest because that’s obviously how Anet wants the game to be played.

It’s pretty pointless to claim “PvE isn’t very rewarding” and following it up with “outside of this and this and this”.

Stop cherry picking. Are DEs and heart rewards pitiful? Yes, and rightfully so. They are pitifully easy; the exception is a group event which is likely classified as a group event on account of there being Champion- or Legendary-level foes which will automatically distribute Champ Bags, and in specific but limited instances, additional loot chests and Daily Bonus chests/guaranteed high-level rares, so you’re already receiving a secondary reward.

Why do you think you deserve more than a silver for disbatching some low-level bandits? It’s nonsensical.

I got 6 rares and 48 Heavy Moldy bags for spending 15 minutes in Orr doing one particular event chain. You just need to know what to do to make money in PvE.

You want an example of not very rewarding? Look at PvP.

Stop cherry picking.

Principle of charity

In philosophy and rhetoric, the principle of charity requires interpreting a speaker’s statements to be rational and, in the case of any argument, considering its best, strongest possible interpretation.

I believe what he meant to say was “Apart from Farm Wars 2, the rewards are utter kitten”.
Which I completely agree with.
I normally play WvW teamed up with a magnificent warrior to crush the enemy even when outnumbered. We roam capturing camps and biting a zerg’s tail off. It’s the most satisfacting play from all.
But after all this time, I’ve only managed to craft a single ascended armor piece. All weapons are exotic as well. The infusions are WvW infusions because I can’t afford making the stat + agony infusions.
I play about 3 hours a day and I barely make 1 gold.
Even though I ONLY play WvW, my rank is below the average since zerging is far more rewarding. I get 1 kitten silver for actually working towards the WvW score where the zerg swims in income. How is that fair?
Want to wonder why pve is dead? That’s because dynamic events and such give no rewards.

I’ve long wanted to get a full ascended equipment with infusions and the greatsword spiritual weapon, which isn’t even a legendary! But at this rate my computer will rust before I can achieve it.

“Then go farm”. No! I play this game for fun. What the hell happened with the manifesto?

It’s amusing how people call playing the game “farming” and “grinding”. If I go to a map and expect to get some kind of a reward, then I have to gather materials or kill enemies, which is what you are calling farming and grinding.

You can certainly choose to just farm, if you feverishly running from node to node as fast as possible gathering materials and ignoring everything else.

Or you can grind enemies by staying in the same small area, attacking the same mobs as they respawn and do it over and over again even after the enjoyment has worn off.

But you don’t need to do either in order to make gold. You can play, do events, wander a map, and still make gold. Yes, it helps to do this is an area where the loot drops are more profitable and where there are materials that have a higher value, but don’t blame ANET for that if your goal is to make gold.

For example, log in and go to Iron Marches. Wander around killing mobs. Gather the material as you find it, and yes, go out of your way to hit up the rich nodes. You don’t have to do it in a way that kills your fun or where you ignore the beauty of the game world. You can have your cake and eat it too.

However, if you simply want to maximize your gold earned per hour then yes, you would be better off finding that one thing that gave you the best returns and do that thing repetitively. But you don’t need to do that to make gold.

Does anyone go to Southsun? I try and go there once a day, by myself. I go to gather the Blooming Passafloria because they are valuable and easy to spot, and I go to fight the karka because they can give good drops and I enjoy the challenge.

PvE is rewarding enough if you’re not looking into getting a legendary. Otherwise, if you want to maximize your rewards in that aspect, better hop onto a champ train and take a ride for several hours.
