Q:

I know everyone is debating the new HoT expansion, but I am staying far far away from that discussion. Instead, I would like to appeal to those out there who are interested in the new fashion that may or may not be coming out in this expansion.

I’ll break it down like this.

My light armor characters need pants.

My medium armor characters need less pants. Skirts! Shorts! Yes, I know that there are some pieces like shorts, but they either look like a diaper (I’m looking at you Vigil Medium Armor leggings) or like someone put their underwear on the outside of their pants (coughCarapacecough)

My heavy armor classes need more pants! whats with all the skirts? I understand that flair makes the armor, but I would love some plainer pants. They can be all chainmail for all I care, but my male characters wearing hip expanding skirts is a fashion faux pas.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I would love some pants and shorts! This could actually be like a all class item. Some nice shorts and just some simple pants. I like the skirts too, but variety would be great.

We had shorts. They went the way of running and idle animations. I believe the two words that came up in the Thread of a Thousand Truths were healthy and appropriate.

There are a few existing pant models, like glorious armor, but they all look a bit weird IMO. Especially around the crotch. I think the models don’t work well with pants.

>_> bikini frontline female norn has heavy armor Ftw.

now on a more serious response… has a heavy class the silver waster armor it really looks nice, leg plates reminds the white mantle, more armor type in that genre of traditional fantasy way…
And more town clothes would love to seen every one using town clother while hanging on cities

lets deal with the problem of nearly every piece of light armor being a dress or robe, and every piece of medium armor either being a mall flasher trenchcoat, or something that just looks silly.

I play a male human Ele. 95% of the time he wears Ascalonian pants for his awesome Zerker look. The other 5% he wears Embroidered pants for his “devout/pacifist” Cleric look.

These two pants are pretty good, but the former can look a bit too tight at times (especially with the wrong boots) and the latter are a bit too pajama-ish (which works when going for the monk look, but looks ridiculous otherwise.)

I would definitely appreciate more “normal,” “modern” looking pants to wear.

The Human male light T1 pants look too ridiculous to wear, and the T2 pants are a bit baggy, and don’t look “modern” enough IMO.

Everything else is skirts…which is fine if you like, but it gets old.

Moar pants plz :p

Because light armors are caster classes, who typically go for robes… Also some are coats, just instead of the chestpiece being the entire coat, it’s split between legs and chest.

And while SOME medium armors are trenchcoats, a huge chunk are simply COATS. Also don’t see how they are like a ‘mall flasher trenchcoat’… at all.

Yes, I agree there could be some more diversity. Hell, I’d love if the male version of the Phalanx armor was available for female chars.

It’s simple, move some of the medium leg armor designers to the light and heavy section and move the light designers to medium.

I use for my light armour classes the ascalonian pants. I combined them with the caudecus-shoes, so they don’t look too tight. I like the result(at least 1000x more than the skirt-robe-look). Sadly for my medium classes I’ve not found a single non-coat-shirt

The Glorious Brigadine isn’t a coat, but you can only get it via the Glorious Reward Track in PvP. I use it with either the Aethernet leggings or one of the trousery medium leggings and it looks pretty good, if not a little too modern.

But my biggest issue is definitely light armor. I finally broke down and got the tier one Norn legs for my Mesmer. They’re nice, but I would like a few simple options that don’t have a built-in skirt or dangly bits.

Cool, wasn’t aware such a skin even existed o.0 I think I’m gonna wait for hot since I’m no PvP-player, but when they won’t introduce a medium-class-shirt-skin in there I probably try to get this one. Ty.

Um, are you calling every coat ingame a trench coat? I recall there are several which do not even approach that length of coat, and don’t even reach the knee :P.

Either way, far too many of them obscure the bottom clothing.

Personally, the bigger complaint I have is that not enough Medium tops are sleeveless.

It would be GREAT if you could use the armor skins on any profession. There are already outfits that do it so why not allow skins to as well?

On the topic of pants… we need more skirts for girls. I’m tired of having to fake skirts with the magician leggings. And fix the colors on the starter skirt so they’re not dulled.

Yeah, I’m put off playing light armour, as it almost all looks so super-girly.

I like feminine elements (particularly in accessories/auxiliary items), but I dislike my char looking as though she’s going to a red carpet event, full-time.

I’m put off playing heavy armour, as it’s almost all so heavy-looking and masculine.

Medium armour is better, but it’s still too coat-dominated and even of the very few tops that aren’t coats, one has dangly strap type things (where the bottom of the coat would be), which cut through my char’s legs.

TBH, I would settle for some fairly plain, close fitting, bodysuit type armour sets and/or outfits, just to avoid having to worry about it.

The thing with the light armor vs medium armor is some light armors (I’ve noticed it more perhaps with males thenn females) separate the coats between chest and legs, where the medium armor has the coat entirely on the chest.

Jokes aside, I think what might help is having more casual looking outfits available for our toons, either by converting the clothing tonics into outfits or making completely new outfits in the gem store.

Thank you for the screens! =D

My heavy armor females (and everyone else’s heavy armor females) are already wearing those pants, but on my norn it sits high on the hip, and gives an unflattering silhouette.
