Feels like this has been asked for since the game first came out, but I sometimes comeback to see if it has been addressed if they have address the particle effect situation.

Last time I left it was like a bunch of ravers dancing with glow sticks everywhere? Watching a match up on twitch felt like I was watching a cluster _ with out a clue on what was actually happening.

Anyways have they addressed this yet? I have been gone for about 6 months and debating on re-installing to play pvp again.

They’ve globally toned it way down plus there is a check box in the graphic settings that defaults checked to suppress them even more. Whether that’s enough for you is totally your call.

Not really addressed at all. Go to any boss fight and it’s still just a giant effect blob. If the boss has an animation who would know. All you can see is the potentially seizure inducing light show.

The game does not have ANY settings to “hide other players particle effects”.

It’s somewhat addressed, but not all and there are inconsistencies. Take some Lightning Fields as an example: all of them (except Scrapper Hammer 5) have the new glowing circle and graphics, but some retain that lightning wall that is visual clutter.

There are two separate issues I think:

1 If we can talk about immersion, then don’t we have to include the effects of “fog of war” on our individual performance? There is always confusion in a fire fight. If 50 of my closest friends are all dropping crap all over a boss, can I really expect to see clearly? If 50 of my closest friends are on a boss with me, do I need to see clearly?

2 Frame rate and lag are driven by the level of performance of your individual computer. Slow computer / GPU means low frame rate and lag. I believe that is an actual problem, and is addressed by the reduced effects options now available.

I don’t believe that seeing clearly is a problem in boss situations.. it part of the fun to not see what you’re doing!
