Guild Wars 2

So a friend just came back to the game and I’m trying to show them around and play a newb with them. Some areas we can be in the same ‘instance’ of a zone, and others we cannot. An example is ‘Plains of Ashford’ we cannot seem to get into the same instance to play, while in ‘Black Citadel’ we can.

They can literally walk into Black Citadel and see me, then walk back out to Plains and I follow but not find them. No option to ‘join’ in party. We’ve tried various techniques to no avail.

Their home server is different, but since we can do this on some maps and not others (even while in the same party) it has me confused a bit.

You should try guesting onto the server your friend is on to see if that works. Not all maps are megaservers

Some maps like towns (black citadel) are part of the megaserver already. That’s basically a server merge of that map. Plains Of AShford is not part of that megaserver yet, so for that map you’ll actually still have to guest to his server.

Well I feel stupid. I just assumed guesting was disabled on patch day. Didn’t even look for it. smacks head
