Guild Wars 2

Hey guys.
First of all, I hope it’s okay for me to throw this out in the general discussion as I’m sure one of you guys searching through the general discussion can help me understand the mechanics here.

I’ve been wondering how it works with personal story mode and partying with some friends.

We are all the same race but some of us has finished personal story, and others have just started doing them, so 1) are we able to join them and vice versa?
2) Also, whilst DPS are higher as a group – will the mobs HP also increase thereby?
I heard that was the case somewhere but really wanted to get it confirmed here.

I hope you guys can help me understand it before I join my mates to destroy their fun
