The ability to pass-down (skip) on rewards

So here is an example:

playing Fractals and getting the X Skin for the N-time while u know that some1 else is playing fractals for years and hasn’t got it.
So an ability to it pass-down would be nice. So some1 else in the party can get it. There can be a bonus reward for passing down- like 1g for rare skin (fractals) and 10g for fractal tonic, 5g for dungeon recepie,

Or even sending it as a gift to some1 else before acquisition.

another way may be to vote on rewards like you vote whit 1g for a party reward and the people that pass-down share the voted value. The item is given to a random player that has voted for it. This should be done ONLY for account-bount rewards.
example: at the end of fractal a skin is droped- it is a party reward (even if a player is kicked out he can still vote for the reward – so no last min kicks) 3 people vote 1g and 2 ppl pass – the 2 people get 1.5g from voting ppl and one ot the 3 people gets the skin.
If all pass every1 can get a “bonus” 1g for passing down and no1 gets the skin.

it may be even more interesting – the vote may not be whit a fixed value of gold. So the more you want the reward the higher the amount of gold you vothe whit, and the higher the chances of you getting it. and even more insentive to pass-down on a reward. the vote can be blind so you don’t know how much the others are vothing whit.

I dont really understand the whole voting thing but passing on the reward from something like that does sound very cool. Very often in fractals i get skins that i already have or my friends get duplicates that i dont have.

But it goes against the entire farming intent of the Fractals. While I like the idea, the reason the system exists as it is was the express desire for gear grind and semi-random rewards.

Well i think people have made it pretty clear that they don’t like how difficult it is to get all the fractal skins. They don’t mind that it takes skill but i believe people feel like it shouldn’t be as random and RNG as it is now. Like someone can do a thousand fractals and not have more than a few of the weapon skins. They also used to be much easier to get pre-fractured

I’d love to be able to pass on duplicate items as well. I’m not sure it would work with this game’s loot model, though, where everyone rolls on their own table and the drops are all calibrated with that in mind.

There might also be some major flameouts too, though ANet can’t be held responsible for players being jerks. Still, imagine how nasty it could get with people demanding they get the passed-on loot.

I see, you want to cheat RNG… Anet will not allow this

The game already includes two methods to “pass down” rewards to someone else: the trading post and the internal mail. This, of course, doesn’t apply to those rewards they want us to get on our own (whether through RNG or otherwise), in which case the items are bound.

In other words, if ANet wanted to make it easier for people to get fractal skins without getting them as drops, they would just unbind them.

That said, I wouldn’t mind if they added a sort of progress system for RNG-only acquisitions. They already use this for BL skins:

  • You can get very lucky and get a BL skin ticket.
  • You can get partially lucky and get a BL ticket scrap.

They could do this for fractal skins, fossilized insects, the mini ghost dog, etc. This wouldn’t change the drop rates; it would, however, give us a sense that we are making progress, thus changing our feeling about the drop rates.

Regarding fractal weapon skins specifically, I think they need to add a new fractal token that drops in place of the weapon skins. This token could be used to choose a skin, or be broken down into pristine relics which then can be converted to regular relics if desired. Perhaps so many of these rare tokens could be saved up to get the fractal tonic and future rewards in fractals.

So not only would we have to deal with RNG, we’d have to deal with other players clicking Need when they don’t actually need it? Couldn’t stand that cancerous system back in WoW, would rather not see anything resembling it in GW2.

Something like this would be very nice in some instances, and save some players from unnecessary headaches. RNG can be a real kitten sometimes.

For example, back when Vinewrath was put into the game, some friends/guildies and I farmed that event for weeks. However, over the course of dozens of successful VW runs, my friends had piles of Carapace Coats, whereas I had yet to find even one (aside from the one guaranteed reward you receive upon first completion). It was a very frustrating time for me… I had done the exact same amount of work as they did, but I was not getting rewarded for it. They even said they would have given me their spares had the jackets not been Account Bound.

(I got mine a couple weeks later, but for a seemingly common item, I was getting the short end of the RNG-stick.)
