This is exactly what we need more of.
Real fixes, real solutions, a little bit of content, and general improvements to the game. This is a great patch, and I have to applaud you all in the development team for making some real progress towards bettering the game as a whole. Let’s keep doing these kinds of patches, the ones that fix and improve. Great, great job.

No offense OP but you don’t know if the patch is that great at the moment, you literally have just downloaded it and stuff and right away you come and say it’s great?

However, the guesting is cool because on my server HOD is dead in terms of world pve, and I cannot get the karma armor at orr because no one does the event, so now I can guest to a more popular server and get that armor, and I am glad to see they didn’t really nerf any classes that much.

I agree. The patch notes were nothing but good news for me. Even small things like not nerfing Simin too hard (just fixed sparks) to let DM title keep a bit of shine.

The Orr revamp interests me, especially the vague things like “new exotic items have been added to the temple kharma vendors”. Please let them be PVT jewellery. lol

I also cannot wait to try the new Living Story events!

Aaaaand the Triforge Ammy is still useable with the upgrade.

Props ANet.

Agreed, these updates look fantastic. Excited! I can’t wait to enjoy all the new perks to exploring existing zones. Open world exploration is what I spend all my time on anyway and now it’s going to be even more fun.

The small touch-ups are very welcome, too. I’m so happy that annoying animation bug on my ele’s whirlpool won’t happen anymore!

Looks like a decent patch. Pleasantly surprised.

Hear me now… not being able to respawn while someone else is in combat in a dungeon will hurt BAD… it seems like a good solution to curb farming at this time, but honestly, this will hurt so many players it’ll be awful… imagine you died and can’t respawn because some noob is running around somewhere… it will make it harder for 99% of people actually playing dungeons because the 1% farm CoF… and oh yea guess what, it still doesn’t solve farming cause nobody ever dies farming cof p1

They’re going to earn three times the yearly revenue of a sub-based MMO off that alone.

Bundles from player skills (engineer kits, elementalist conjured weapons, warrior banners) now have base damage that is consistent with the highest rarity weapons available at the level of the player.

This has me a little worried, even tho they made weapon stat bonus apply to bundles, engie kits might still deal less or the same damage.

If it’s the same, fine with me, but if it’s less…..

The “noob” would either

  • A) Die, getting out of combat and allowing you to respawn, or
  • B) Run away, removing himself from combat.

The only way I could see this particular update backfiring is if someone glitches somehow and is in combat, can not be killed, and can not move away to remove himself from combat.

Make no mistake; the next few weeks will be a bit tougher. However, we will simply emphasize a bit more organization, more pulling, and greater priority for people downed.

I’m very much looking forward to see the changes in-game.
Couldn’t really find anything in the patch notes that irked me the wrong way.
Well, I was hoping for a character slot sale to come along with the update.
But I guess I’ll have to wait a while longer for that one.

Definitely checking out the prelude event first though.

Downloading now and reading the notes. Looks like a lot of work went into this patch. Thank you Anet for all your hard work on this.

Obviously you can’t please everyone (I read the forums regularly) but my hubby and I are thrilled to have such a neat environment to play in together. I introduced hubby to his first ever MMO through this and so glad I did! We have our frustrating moments but also some neat moments of triumph as we figure our way through things.

Really looking forward to seeing how the Living Story plays out. Cool to see there is a reason to visit the cities and lower level zones again.

Guesting (and if it took this long to make it functional, then I’m fine with the wait) and quaggen backpacks. What’s not to like?

Edit – Some very nice tidbits buried in the notes. Nice to see daily achievements only have one tier. A small change but much better doing it that way.

Receiving your own level of loot from any level of enemy is really nice too.

In October I paid for a game. I received the game, it might have had it’s flaws and imperfections, but I have been playing and enjoying it.

Since then I have received a lot of extra content and I have not had to spend another penny. I’d like to remind everyone of that fact. All this stuff is free. We paid for the game in that box on that disc, however imperfect it might have been, we did not pay for the right to have our every wish granted for the rest of our lives.

We didn’t pay to have our personal preferences made priority over others, or to have a team of developers meet our every whim and fancy. They cater to a varied player base. For example, I love the pvp aspect, (though as I see clearly here, not all share that opinion), it’s a huge part of the game and if you don’t play pvp then you’re not exploring the whole game. Dailies and monthlies are there to point you in the right direction, to show you all the game has to offer. If you don’t want to play it, then you don’t have to. It’s your call.

I personally have already saved the cost of GW2 by retiring my subscription to my previous mmo, and somehow, I have come out of this transaction with an mmo which far succeeds the one I used to play, in just about every aspect, and it just keeps getting better.

ANet owe us NOTHING. Not a thing. Regardless of that fact, they keep giving. I for one am very grateful. So, thank you ANet, for being so generous, and providing us with such an amazing game.

Yes, while I’m a little disappointed about the lack of class balance changes, this was a very large and appreciated step in the right direction.

I’m unhappy with the update for a few reasons:

Been working toward a legendary, and getting the gifts…

T6 material prices tanked immediately after i purchased a stack of each for my Gift of Might and my Gift of Magic.

(That’s over 400g worth of purchases that are now worth only about 100g)

I still need to purchase my Orichalcum ingots for one of my gifts…. and of course that is going WAY UP in price after removing the rich ori node in southsun.

I just spent 700k karma maxing my thirst slayer title (purchasing jugs of martini from vendor at 14 karma each) and now we have a place to use karma (Orrian Jewel Boxes).

Basically this update had a big ol’ “Suck It, Leech” sticker on it.

But content is content just the same….. i just got screwed.

The patch has some interesting ideas.

Having a (somewhat) reliable way to get tier 6 crafting materials, as well as rares and exotics (which double as a source of ectos) is a good step for the game – this removes (a bit of) the RNG elements in the game. It’s somewhat unfortunate that ArenaNet has decided to implement this system through, ironically, RNG (random tier 6 materials and random rare or exotic equipment), but at least it’s a step in the right direction.

Adding new karma sinks is also a good idea. Having a system that allows people to convert karma into gold is nice, considering how the conversion rate is not very high. Again, too bad ArenaNet decided to do it through RNG, AGAIN.

The change to dailies and monthlies is a good idea. The fact dailies reward equally grinders and casual players is great. A pity the system still needs more fine tunning (see the combo dailies).

I did wish the dailies would actually give people to spread around the world. Having a daily saying “do 10 events in Ascalon”, or “kill 10 types of enemies in Kryta”, would really help to make people explore more of the GW2 world.

“I think that players are starting to mature past the point of wanting to be on that
treadmill, of being in that obvious pattern of every time I catch up you are going to
put another carrot in front of me” – Mike O’Brien right before Ascended weapons

That’s a great idea! Maybe we’ll see that in future dailies, since they change now!
