I wish it performed on the lowest tier of salvaging. Then, I wouldn’t receive all those Sigils and Runes.

I didn’t pay cash for it. I would wager many didn’t.

As for intellect? It is always best to research any item that costs what one might consider a considerable amount.

It’s a convenience item. And extremely popular.

Good luck.

Unless you’re unemployed, or need to ask Mom for money, then maybe 10$ would seem like a lot.

Those sigils and runes are still worth coin even if they can only be sold at vendor for very little. Heck I have probably sold enough of them to vendor since I got it to come close to the gold cost to buy the copper fed for gold to gem exchange. I just wish the sigils and runes would not go into my craft material bag when I salvage. It makes it harder to sort.

Every copper counts and adds up over time. I’d rather they still drop sigils and runes. Like I said every copper adds up over time.

OP needs to relax.

I’ve never brought myself to buy a infinite gathering tool or an infinite salvaging kit, but they seem extremely popular, so there’s obviously appeal there. Whether or not it makes economic sense versus just buying the materials / salvage kits, I don’t know, but if it was just out-of-touch money-grubbing, people wouldn’t be buying so many of them.

I’d rather it didn’t. I’d rather as little chance for the next tier of materials, as possible.

But, to each it’s own.

That is not how it works. The lowest tier salvage kit, the one you want it to work with is the crude salvage kit and does not give a chance for rarer material. The chance of rarer materials is 0% and maybe 5% for recover upgrades.

The copper fed works at the same level as a basic salvage kit. 10% chance of rarer materials and 20% for upgrades. Since you said you wished it worked at the lowest tier of salvaging that means at crude level with 0% chance of rarer materials. So you would not even have a chance at rarer mats.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Salvage_kit

So if the copper fed worked at the same level as the lowest tier crude salvage kit those using it would actually miss out on extra mats and upgrades they could sell. It would reduce the value of the tool.

LOL okay, you would rather lose stuff you can sell, rarer mats and sigils/runes. Sorry I disagree. If they change the copper fed to crude level I think you will see a lot of angry people. Like I said, I’ve probably made enough coin off selling those worthless runes and sigils to vendor to pay for my copper fed. It isn’t one or the other. You still get the mats you would get from a crude kit plus a chance at rarer mat/sigil/runes. Like you say though, to each their own. If you enjoy lost coin opportunity that is fair enough.

Bag space. The sheer amount of garbage that gets thrown into the inventory to be salvaged quickly depletes stacks of salvage tools from the vendors.

I don’t see anyone upset. I’m just saying the return over time is much better with the copper fed at basic kit level than if it were at the crude level. Those sigils and runes you complained about in your first post in this thread do not take the place of other mats salvaged. They are just bonus loot. I’ll take them all day. Send me yours if you don’t want them that much.

The upgrades are not worth selling. They’re not worth the inventory space or time it takes to find a merchant to sell to.

The green runes and sigils aren’t worth the inventory space they take up. Not even for people with eight 20-slot boxes. What is so hard to understand about that?

I’m sorry you struggle to manage your inventory. As a bit of advice you should never salvage while in an area where you can’t quickly find vendors, TP, bank, etc. because salvaging can quickly fill up your inventory. Let me explain to you my routine then. I go out in game, do this and that for a few hours. Maybe some fractals, PvE stuff and what not. Then I use my Royal Terrace pass. Once there I start salvaging. Then I deposit materials, hop to the TP and sell anything I don’t want to keep that is worth something. Then I go to the vendor and sell off all those “worthless” sigils and runes. I’ve done this probably thousands of times. It takes maybe 4-5 minutes of my time. I don’t even have full bag slots with 20 slot bags. 7 copper is better than no copper. What is so hard to understand about that? If they are worthless to you just delete them. Or send them to me. I’ll take them all day.

I’m a penny pincher and that has not only helped me succeed in real life but has also allowed me to make substantial amounts of gold in game. Because every single copper made adds up over time. You would be surprised how much you can have if you take advantage of every opportunity. If I get change from a store and there are 4 pennies I won’t just toss them on the ground because the weigh my pocket down.

Because if I don’t salvage in the field, my inventory floods with items, which, unlike salvaged materials, don’t stack. I salvage to save space.

And the Royal Terrace/Captains Airship pass are even bigger ripoffs than the copper-fed Salvage-o-mat.

All the stuff in the gem store are either vanity or (in this case) convenience items. Its a big reason why I love GW2 and still play. In my last MMO one had to spend literally thousands of dollars to be competitive. In GW2 you can spend nothing (beyond the purchase price) and still be competitive and have fun. GW2 has one of the most user-friendly business models around for MMO gamers.

It’s a convenience item for players who prefer to salvage in the field off one slot rather than carry 5-6 basic kits like I do. Combine it with an account slot and you free up several slots in all of your characters’ inventories. It’s the sort of convenience item that the store should have, tbh. If you don’t find it convenient, don’t buy it.

Only only need to rationalize it for yourself and if it comes up short for you, then don’t buy one.

It’s all about being able to salvage whites/blues and greens and then sending the mats to collections without needing to carry a boat load of basic salvage kits. Combined with a shared slot and now you have unlimited basic salvage on every character you will ever have.

All the items are simply conveniance items, which means they are all optional.

I don’t mind the runes/sigils myself though I can see how they annoy others. Some of the complaints might be lessened if merchants had a “sell all” for the 16 copper runes/sigils like they do for junk, so you don’t have to sell them individually. Other than that I don’t see ANet reducing the salvage rate for them. They are a small part of the new liquid gold flowing into the economy from sales to vendors as well as items that people mystic forge. They may not want to mess with that.
