I hate to throw cold water when there are so many exciting things happening, but I do have to point out that I am very troubled by this issue.

“Waypoints—All contestable waypoints on any map you’re not currently playing in will always appear contested. When you arrive in the map, you will be able to travel to these waypoints pending their local status.”

I believe that this will make waypoint travel significantly more cumbersome. It will double cost, double load time, and make arriving at world events in time significantly more problematic.

What does everyone else think? If you agree, what do you think would be a better solution for Arena Net?

I dont get it. We would have to walk in the map, and only then would be able to use waypoints? So…if im in frostgorge and want to go to orr…ill have to suffer over 9000 loading screens? It doesnt sound healthy.

That isn’t true. Not 100% of the WPs are contestable. There are plenty of WPs that you can use to enter any map you want. It will be more challenging with the Orr maps but you still will be able to go from Frostgorge to Orr. You just may not get the exact WP that you want. You will have to choose an open WP. Once loaded into the new map, you will be able to look at the map again and see which WPs within the map are open. No, this won’t double your WP cost. It will increase it a bit but not double it as some dramatic people are saying.

Ah…I get it…Only contestable would be contested. So there would be at least 1 open waypoint on the map. Well…thats endurable. They just doubling wp gold sink and disabling repair/trait gold sink. So its fine.

Repair/trait gold sink < doubling wp gold sink

There is NO comparison. It’s a fact that WP’ing is much more expensive.

Nope. Not true at all.

If I want to go to a contestable waypoint, I’ll have to map in to the zone at a non-contestable one and then waypoint to the one I want from there.

So, that isn’t exactly twice the cost (since the second WP jump would be in-zone and therefore cheaper), but it is an increase in cost. Worse than that though, it means more time looking at loading screens and less time playing the game.
