So, well… I was gathering and thinking to the Gem Store in the same time and I thought ; why not permanent gathering tools?

We are all tired of RNG after this Wintersday event so why not sell tools like this directly for like 400 gems/tool, aka 5 bucks/tool for a few lines of code.

I never bought anything in the Gem Store except from a santa hat / a few char slots and I would buy this right away.

Why not? Because it would actually make sense. That’s why.

LOTRO has permanent tools from the very off, but the annoyance is that you switch between the three tools you choose for crafting and the ‘elite’ version is a tool that has all three tools with a high crafting bonus.

If there was a 400 skill thing to craft a permanent set of tools with a 10% gathering bonus that’d be cool, but it would obviously need to be a bit of a challenge to get.

They probably are trying to keep the money supply down by having us buy tools. That’s the same reason we have a fee for using the BLTC and stuff like that.

Yes, I thought of that. It’s a gold sink.

But selling permanent tools would probably make more benefits than pushing us to spend 4s every 100 nodes. And selling permanent tools creates less annoyance. And for 400 gems/ea, a lot of players would spend like 8g/ea and that’s probably more gold than all the tools they’d ever buy instead…

The value you would get from something like this would translate to alot more gems/gold than you guys seem to think it would.

They could just make it consume copper on use if you really want to keep the gold sink in tact.

The gem store is supposedly here to provide us with convenience items. Maybe it is about time we actually see some?

I want it to make sense right away, then another sense later. Murkiness =/= quality "

They have said they aren’t going to put any items in the gem store that will give players an advantage. However, I dont think that a permanent tool would fall into that category and I think this is a good idea.

I never spend coppers on tools. There are karma erchants around that sell them for karma (350 karma).
So yeah, for some ppl it’s not a gold sink at all. Just an annoyance.

If they were going to add them, they would come in the black lion chests and they would be more rare than the existing permanent items.

Their value would be closer to 8000 gems, not 400. Because of this, they’ll never add these items directly, since it would look overpriced. The current value of the permanent bank access for example, is 28k gems.
