So what if it’s mostly useless? I can see it having use in raids, because ANet can’t into placement of things (Adrenal Mushrooms and Rifts anyone?). Stuff like this would actually be a perfect addition to the gem store since it offers nothing but a QoL improvement (less [loading]times spent) for a price tag.

Implementation shouldn’t be too hard either, the base item is in the game, add unlimited charges and off you go.

You are missing the point here. So instead of going to anvil, i have to go wvw, and endure 2 loading screens? what if im in the middle of nowhere in a hot map? lose my participation?

Instead of the clunky “permanent repair canister” …. let’s call it a “pocket anvil”.

I just checked to make sure. All the HoT maps have at least one anvil. You’ll need to wp to it and wp back, then maybe a bit of a run but you won’t lose map participation. The only place you might need it is during a raid. If you actually don’t have any of the free ones they hand out and are willing to pay 700 to 1000 gems for using it during a raid then ok. Maybe ANet will see this thread and grant your wish.

ANet may give it to you.

In any situation where this would be useful, it would be broken – if there’s somewhere where you’re likely to die a lot without a way to repair and keep progress… then that would be part of the challenge. I just don’t see this one ever happening.

The better question is where are you dying that often but doesn’t already have an anvil nearby. The only thing I can think of would be attempting certain story achievements.

Why not? They are all over the place; they are hardly out of the way. I have yet to find myself in an HoT map for more than 20 minutes without passing them by.

Go directly to broken gear. Do not pass Anvil. Do not repair gear.

Not sure why armour damage is even in the game at the moment, it is essentially meaningless at this point. It is free to repair so it is no longer a (very minor) gold sink, the only thing that remains is it being a slight nuisance to repair. I have thirty or so repair canisters on my character that I never use, I do not die often and when damage appears an anvil is usually near.

It is an old concept that really has no place any more.

Edit – Though all of this talk is kinda pointless, Arena Net will not even look at the topic till a streamer they like starts raging over something related to it.

OP didn’t say he couldn’t go to an anvil, nor that there aren’t copious amounts of anvils that he could go to. He’s saying he will pay money to not have to ever go to an anvil again.

I’m just wondering if there’s sufficient demand to make it worth while for them to make and put in the gemstore. Besides him, I’ve never seen anyone express a wish for a permanent repair kit. Not with the number of deaths needed before a piece breaks (8) and with all the free anvils around on each map and all the free repair canisters the game gives you.

Is there an easily accessible anvil in the raid? Because off hand, that’s the only place I can think of where a permanent repair canister is of real use. Not wishing to take a few seconds to use a free anvil on a regular map every few days isn’t something that’s going to inspire a lot of people to pay 700 to 1000 gems.

Yes there is a very accessible anvil in raids.

The item itself would serve very little purpose. I personally wouldn’t even bother, but it’s not like they would have to produce or inventory anything. They would just take an item that already exists and make it unlimited use. Not sure what development time on that would be, but I feel like if they could sell even 20 of them that it would have paid for itself.

Just another option for people that want ultimate convenience.

No doubt.

It’s always nice to make a product that pays for itself. Whether such an item has enough demand to generate more profit than the time and expense spent designing and selling another item is debatable. Personally I think items far more likely to bring in the money and be worth a place in the gem store would be permanent bank accesses and those bunny ears. I’ve seen people asking for those much more often.

But maybe demand is so high for this item that large numbers of people will come on this thread and beg to spend 700 gems or more for it.

And bundle it with a pocket raptor!

I could see a permanent repair item being useful. Expect it to come from a Black Lion chest, though.

In all the years of playing Guild Wars 2 I’ve only used a repair canister once, and that was really just because what the heck I’ve got a million of them.

Pretty much every place where you would die a lot has an anvil nearby your respawn point. In WvW a permanent repair canister would save a player about 3-5 seconds of time every time they respawned by letting them avoid the anvil detour. That minuscule convenience is hardly worth a gem store item.

And dungeons have anvils, where else would you need to repair a lot? You’d need a permanent revive orb to benefit from a permanent repair canister…

They rather should improve craftign with a mastery like this that allows to make armor that can’t be destroyed anymore …

Crafting Arts (unlocked at first Grandmaster job)

1) Sage of Craftmanship
Increases speed of crafting by 50% as additionally, Exp from Crafting and chances fro Critical Crafting Exp by 50% forCraftign Jobs that you haven#t mastered yet to Max Level.

2) Crafting Miracle
You can craft now with Exotic Runes and Sigils now also ascended accountbound versions that allow you to use from that point on to use all unlocked Runes and Sigils like in PvP to use Upgrades without needing to have them anymore in your Inventory each time.

3) Unbreakable
Your crafted Equipment is now reinforced and thus can’t get broken anymore, just only damage. Damaged Equipment has lowered efficiency in form of reduced stats from now on compared to full intact equipment with no scratch.

4) Enchanted Crafting
You can now craft Ascended Equipment with the same Stat Changing Feature as like legendary items, just with the difference, that you need to merge your crafted ascneded equipment with Attribute Runes, while Legendary Equipment has from begin on every single Atttribute Combo unlocked.

5) Ultimate Invincibility
Your reinforced equipment becomes from this moment on “undestroyable” if you refine it with fitting materials under your corresponding crafting job.
Means, your equipment can’t get even damaged anymore, even if you fall into a lava pit, your gear is ultimatively invicinble, like godmade. Sadly, your body isn’t so you will die none the less xD

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

….why not just remove armour damage completely? They already made it a pointless gimmick when they removed the repair cost. It serves no real purpose at this point other than to make everyone do more busy work.

Reinstate repair costs or remove armour damage completely is what I say. Preferably the former.
