Personal Housing
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Hmm looks interesting. Perhaps if done similar to that here we could buy a house in each map or at least the ones where we have the 5 races have some sort of residence.
Not sure what the bonuses could be. Perhaps we could hire servants in them to collect the farmed ingreds for that map (sugar pumpkins, cabbages etc). They could also act as another access to our banks for immersion and convenience. Apart from that I’m lost for ideas. I’m sure others could come up with some good ones.

Duty officer system from STO for gathering rare crafting materials pls.
i see no need for this in the game at all. and to me it would be no more different then going to a town . only difference is the town would be empty besides we got something i think it is called home instance . and if any thing it be nice to see more add there then this #justsaying
We get guild guild halls for HoT, dont hope for anything else beyond the home instance. GW2 aint ever going to have the engine tech to rival modern MMO and set up something like that.
BDO is awesome in theory but come on… We all know its gonna get grabbed by a money grubbing f2p western publisher that will first go on and on a about how its not p2w, sell it for $100, then make it completely p2w on release.
Forget about that game. By showing this video, you are pouring salt in open wounds. MMOs has no hope in the west. I have higher hopes for GW3 than BDO and we dont even know if it exist yet.

Housing wouldn’t be inside cities only. It could be in the explorable zones. In there, I could make crafting stations there.

I don’t like the idea. Warhammer had something similar for Guild members. Which made the city feel empty and dead, cause you had everything you wanted in these instances.
No, they should do more open world stuff, and leave instances behind, except for dungeon/raids (Yeah i don’t like them, i don’t do them, but i see why mmorpg’s should have them, cause it’s fun for alot of people, and raids for bigger guilds to overcome is great news for them and us in the long run)

I was very interested in BDO until I saw it in action. Behind the shinny graphics and some good combat mechanics it’s a generic Korean grind MMORPG, with “kill 10 rats, kill 10 cats, gather 10 mushrooms” quest variety, with a big arrow leading to your next quest.
It’s a shame really because that game has many great features but if you see it in action it feels exactly like any other generic Korean MMORPG. Maybe when it’s done it won’t feel like that and be a super awesome game, but I doubt it, it’s Korean made after all.
As for the topic, we are getting Guild Halls with HoT so instanced personal housing might come in the future too. They’ve always said how much they want to improve on the personal instances and how much untapped potential they still have, so who knows.

pass much rather have good high end drop,s in pve instead or even a few need fixes instead of housing

Dumb reason not to have personal housing.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
Instances aren’t a good thing in an mmo, we don’t need even more.
Going to buy it when it comes out archeage died too fast
I had a big house in archeage but i didnt pay the bills
Personal housing like in Lord Of The Rings Online could be cool. You pay x amount of gold for rental, and you can customize it – same as in Wildstar. But would be cool with a instanced neighborhood where everybody can check out your house :-)

By the same token having player houses are fun for a lot of people yet you are willing to say “we don’t want/need them”.
Why they can be fun:
1 – You may be able to create/decorate them as you like. Possibly with trophy items for doing some task in the open world. Say kill a certain boss or earn a certain achievement.
2 – They can offer bonuses such as extra storage, personal training dummies or other such fun things.
3 – They can add a new form of progression. By upgrading the functions, cosmetic looks it gives you something new to do in the game Think new skins but for houses instead of weps/armours.
4 – They are fun for people who like to roleplay or just get lost in more immersion.
I really don’t know why people have this “fear” of the cities becoming empty or dead. Honestly it’s not like you need many people in them as there are no events or even player to player trading. In fact some people even dread going into cities or turn their chat off because of how some people act/talk. More and more this game is getting filled with trolls and just annoying people in chat.
I’d much rather have Black Desert’s character creator. Guild Halls look like they will satisfy my housing itch at least for the near future.
That being said, owning multiple homes across Tyria and having them each serve a different purpose like that video shows would encourage players to return to old maps for reasons besides dailies. Seeing players running back and forth between buildings would also make the world feel more alive than standing around the bank or TP and there are a lot of purely cosmetic buildings that could be repurposed for this. If it makes small cities and villages useful and gives us a real reason to defend them it would be a cool idea.
Nah kitten that, add housing like they had in Star Wars Galaxies. NOW THAT WAS HOUSING.
No info or examples of that so we know what you are talking about?
They introduced Player housing in SWTOR and guess what?
No one uses it.
What about the Houses that was implemented in Aion? Sense ncsoft is part of Aion, I had not looked in game to see it in action but I did saw a newws about it back when it was new, anyone who played Aion and got there own home can be added as an option on how it works.
But im sure alot of players across the world forgotten about an MMO called Aion and just brushed it under a carpet like it did not exist.

Yeah LORTO did a really good job at that. Totally agree.

it has already been announced months ago that Daum will release BDO in EU and NA, it’s the same publisher as in korea. translations will be done by PA.
Housing in BDO is pretty much instanced, the moment you enter the house you “bought” you enter your own little instance. it’s the same with gardens too.
Personal housing, if done right, would be one of the few additions they could make to truly hold my interest for any length of time.
I’ve realized how little I’m actually invested in the world of GW2 and its characters, cities, etc. so when I take a break, I don’t actually ‘miss’ the game as I tend to when I take off from MMOs.
While personal-housing wouldn’t really fix my existing problems with the world, it could give me a place that I actually feel a connection to and have a desire to return to.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
Instead of player housing…player cities. Build your own city including your house. It would be a giant gold sink but it would contain ways of making money such as more nodes. Build a farm and grow different herbs. Have your own forest. I know that’s basically in the home instance now but it could be better expanded on with your own city. Build statues of your characters. Have your own pvp arena. Build a boat and go fishing. (fishing would have to be added in the game). Mini games with your friends since those are usually instanced anyway. Queue up for pvp in your home city and be able to do stuff while you wait. Scavenger hunts. You place items in your city and invite your friends to go find it all.
What about the Houses that was implemented in Aion? Sense ncsoft is part of Aion, I had not looked in game to see it in action but I did saw a newws about it back when it was new, anyone who played Aion and got there own home can be added as an option on how it works.

Played Aion. Also played when they added housing. For those that don’t know, essentially the housing was in an instanced “district”. It was disconnected from any of the maps. You could then get a “house” that was in yet another mini instance and you could invite your friends to it and they would teleport in. If you wanted to visit someone else’s house they had to invite you, or I believe if they were in your friends list you could warp to it.
You could decorate the walls, you could craft furniture, all sorts of stuff. The novelty wore off in 2-3 days and neither I nor my friends visited our houses after that.
Housing sounds great on paper, until you realize it’s kinda meh. You get your house, you decorate it. Then what? Most players would rather hang out with other players and not by themselves in their own private instance.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
That is a similiar system to Lineage, GW2 is a game where 1 map has several shards so that is not possible.
BD is a full seamless map with a guild contruction zone , gw2 is heavilly built over shards of instances.

I would love some player housing. Heck, that was feature that encouraged me to buy GW2 in a first place. Unfortunately it was changed into home instance that is subpar to say at least but fingers crossed for some new developments in a future

oh well too bad . there is just not one reason at all . for personal housing home instance and towns take care of it well. just another thing this game can do with out
Black Desert? I can’t wait for the beta to come around but yes black desert’s character creator looks pretty good to cough back on topic here the Houses something like Aion wasn’t that bad I really didn’t like the auction system Aion had

You want a reason? Fine, how about another way for Anet to make cash off those of us who are willing to spend it for new skins or items that we could use in our houses. BANG, there’s a reason, maybe not for you but for Anet and funny enough I think it’s them who makes these decisions and not you. :P
In fact they have said in the past that they would like to bring them into the game. However I am sure they said at the time when it is the right time (when other priority’s were taken care of) and when they have figured out a good way to do them. Unlike other game makers they like to put things into their game that actually work well and bring something new or cool to the game and not just put something in for the sake of it.
A good example of this at beta was the crafting system. The system over the one in gw1 was a vast improvement and dare I say even better than how a lot of other games do it – great big grind/time sinks.

nope do not need a reason at all for any thing on this . and far as skins goes they are just a waste of time at best . any one who spends money on skins sure does not know what they are doing. besides making a new armor set . with the runes one wants on that set is far more better then any skin . at lest the armor has a use unlike skin,s which is noting more then a vanity deal . guild wars one did NOT have a crafting system like gw2 at all . also at lest in gw1 you did not have to deal with the skin problem at all like you all do in gw2 and like i said that is noting more then a vanity problem

Different strokes for different folks. We will have to agree to disagree. Besides if added you can always choose to ignore them or not take part in. Simple solution really.

on that i will agree with you on . and i hope they do not add it but lets say if they did do it. and lets say they made it like the Guild halls of gw1 . with all the npc,s and so forth ..ok then i would like it maybe even more better then towns .
+1 i like having extra stuff like this in the game. Just something to build besides your own char.. Would be nice
Going to buy it when it comes out archeage died too fast

This is the problem with most MMO housing. Spend all that effort on it, step away from the game, return, POOF. All gone.
Whatever version GW2 gets, I most devoutly hope that it is never taken away due to upkeep issues. This game is meant to be playable without loss of progress even after a long absence.
I prefer Aion’s housing. Instanced. But you can decorate, have plants that grow useful things like dyes or skins. There’s no way to lose said housing.
I’d spent a long time in my house trying to get it just so. Customization something that can always continue to be fun no matter how long you do it. Housing would be great. Or even if we had a small area within our home instance that is actually ours to make some changes to.
Similar to Dragon Age Inquisition. You couldn’t decorate per say but you had choices over certain things within the area of your keep. It was a nice touch.
Personal housing like in Lord Of The Rings Online could be cool. You pay x amount of gold for rental, and you can customize it – same as in Wildstar. But would be cool with a instanced neighborhood where everybody can check out your house :-)
I really liked the concept of LotRO housing and the way it is customizable. The bad thing tho is that is is instanced and therefore always deserted. It would be awesome if there could be a non-instanced housing system. I always fantasized about the enormous Kaineng City area of GW1 being actually accessible, with an individual player house behind every door. That would truly be awesome.
A good housing system also should have storage and a way to display your collections, like the Hall of Monuments in GW1.
The way another MMO (Villagers and heroes or some nonsense) did it was to have an instance that housed about 30-50 houses, thus 50 people. You could see each person’s house and a city type map. You could not enter the houses tho but there was a shared bank/vault in the middle of the town.
Guilds could create their own city and invite people to join them. Basically if you wanted to go to your house (or a friend’s) you would choose the district (server or instance) and load into it. There you could see every house, who owned them and gather mats etc.
I could see possibly something working similar here. There was at one point a way that people managed to get into the home instance on the regular DR map. Here they roleplayed a city. It could work similar to this I should imagine.
Why are you guys comparing open sandbox games with housing to a game like gw2? It’s not that type of game. Guild halls is pretty and home instance is pretty much all you’re going to get with this type of game.
This is not a sandbox game…..you’re not going to get sandbox features with this game engine.

That’s funny considering I have seen Colin (I’m sure it was him) somewhere before say that they would like to do Player Housing. But when the time was right and when it would be done in a way that would add something very worthwhile to the game. I guess he was wrong…..
this looks great.
though you’d be Suprised how much player Traffic this would create Waypointing to a town or city and Traveling to your own personal Guild bank (converted a house) or buy one Large Building and call it a Guild Retreat (a Meeting place away from the Main guild Hall) or (a building for the Guilds Spvp ranked team or officers some where they can have Private meetings without interruptions from normal members)
i would love the idea of a House that you can buy to use as a Extended Bank rather than making Alt guilds for personal extra storage .
even if those House upgrades cost Gems to get more storage or change a house into a Crafting house (that house could provide a Crafting boost while you are inside)
the Crafting house depending on if its a Weaponery , tailor ect gives its own Unquie Weapons to craft , maybe a new Crafting system that is only Accessable by using House / weaponery for example a Sword with changable hilts / blades / hand guards provided you need pre-crafted weapons to Deconstruct to do this and the sword or weapon takes on the Highest Rareity used in the Reconstruction of the weapon.
so you could custom craft your own Legendary (then the animation will have to be linked to blade/or hilt Sections depending on the weapon of choice) which is only possible while using this house you purchased with Gems.
so many options and ways Anet could make it good to for Purchase through Gems which you can still trade gold for.
im sure Anet have ways to make money from this in a large way as you could buy multipul houses in many parts of the Tyria world , it would also Effectively create a housing Market a different form of stocks m buy and maybe sell the houses , that could be fun to some Older players / give them a way to Develope a income .
I know , i know sounds like a Job but to some it is just a Hobby they can do in game, wear some Roleplay clothes be a Estate agent or somthing.
many wonderful things can from it.
Edit: obviously you can only Sell personal housing and you can only own 1 house of each type. so you can’t buy the whole city of houses making a Monopoly.
so the personal housing market would be Buying small, Selling , getting a bigger and bigger house untill you can offord a Mansion or a luxury house in a rich district or inside the Queens Court or royal areas.
with the wedding suits and all , what good is that without a house now ?
(edited by Zenos Osgorma.2936)
Wedding + NPC servant children that go gather materials for you everyday = win. Do it.
Doesn’t this seperate the player base afking in their home not in cities or guild halls? WoW players seem very upset that the garrisn system made the cities feel empty.

obviously they wont have merchants in the houses or every type of crafting station so they will ether need to pay gold / gems to switch between house types and leave the house to sell items.
there won’t be any other merchants inside the houses so the only thing youy can do is have meetings / craft items / access the bank . or access your house storage.
so people won’t be inclided to Afk inside the houses .
