What does everyone think about personal bounty missions? A board could be posted in LA detailing an elite or champion in the world that needs to be killed with a small blurb explaining why. Perhaps the guild bounties could be altered to be fought on a small scale with a personal encounter or a party encounter. These bounties would offer a daily reward and break up the daily quest line, while pushing the player base to the fringe maps more than one time a week. I’ll break it down using the Bartle Test of Gamer Psychology to show this ideas appeal to all players.

Achievers-
Single Player Achievers- Achievements incorporated into the system to provide incentive (duh!)

Multiplayer Achievers- Much like the living story, the bounties could offer totems to players that accompany the bounty board vendor with cool skins to show off (could be tiered)

Explorers- personal bounties would wander the world much like guild bounties (if the guild bounties are used, the effect would be diminished slightly) encouraging less populated maps to be visited

Those who are multiplayer oriented could guide others to the locations of bounties

Socializers- They would benefit from the conversations occuring in LA about the bounties around the bounty board, and the typical party’s could form to scout the locations of bounties. (the personal bounties could scale to the 5 party size limit for a more social experience)

Killers- Sadly these types do not benefit as much as the others, however, they get the satisfaction of killing the bounties.

Other games that use a bounty system-
SWTOR- the bounty system is a little flawed as players camp the locations of the bounties, but the bounty missions were always enjoyable to me the few times I did them. Also the players in GW2 will be interested in other content besides bounties so the possibility of camping locations is more limited. Worst case scenario, bounties transform into another champ farm (but it provides more options for the farmers in a fun way).

Am I copying guild bounties too much, or is this a viable idea for the community?

They had a system similar to this is GW1 with the Zaishen missions, which offered rewards for killing a certain enemy, completing a certain mission, vanquishing (clearing a zone in Hard Mode) a particular area, and competing in a specific PvP format, which all changed on a daily basis, and rewarded tokens that could be used to buy various fun and useful things.

I have a feeling our current daily system was meant to replace that, but honestly, I wish they’d include both. While dailies are all well and good for rewarding specific tasks during normal play, bounties might encourage people to go to less explored parts of the world.

Daily dungeon, jumping puzzle, Champion slaying, specific event completion, and WvW objective capture would be good. Possibly rewarding some coin and laurels for each one, and updating the laurel vendors to offer some of the harder to come by items, like Lodestones

In essence I like the idea if only as a means of providing more variety to the events in game.
