On most of my characters pre NPE I got ambushed by a group of enemies saying “Remember [your mentor]? You’ll be with them soon” or something similar.

I haven’t received one of a levelling character for ages. Was it removed? if so, its a shame because that was one of my favourite events in the game.

I was helping someone running an alt through the PS and it seems that the two Claw Island events have been combined into one (much easier) event. Your mentor does not do a suicide attack to give you time to rally the troops and you no longer have to go out on the beach to rescue what’s-her-name (where I almost always died).

Not sure why this was done but I recall a thread (or five) where a lot of people were crying over their mentor getting killed and suddenly (for non-Sylvari characters) having Trahearne and his never-ending history lectures suddenly show up. Personally, I did not care for any of the mentors much more than Trahearne but I did miss the two separate events… it made the victory at Claw Island seem less of a milestone and less satisfying in the story.

wait, so your mentor survives chlorr island now?

I just recently (within the last month) did that event. I had to go on the beach to save what’s her name (and did die). My mentor (from the Priory) did a suicide run and died.

I was backseat driving on the modified event so I wasn’t playing close attention but I don’t remember even seeing the mentor. I played this event in just the last two weeks and haven’t done any research as to when it may have changed.

I said it was easier since I only died once (because of attacking a rather large mob recklessly) but the person I was helping who was not maxed out on armor or weapons never died at all. I used to think having to “restart at checkpoint” less than 3 times should have been an achievement.

I think I know the events you’re talking about. I’ve had two, though I think they were more in Orr. Either way, I stomped some undead smack-talkers for that.
I hope those events are still in the game.

I think the OP is talking about events that are not within the instances of the PS. I’ve not seen any of them, nor seen anyone post about them for a long time. They may have certain requirements to spawn that just haven’t been met (in a long time.)

Last time I seen this event is at the beach somewhere in Bloodtide Coast.

Another PS related event I saw is Caudecus soldiers ambush you at Harathi Hinterland if you join Order of whispers.

Don’t know how to trigger these events though.. just run around and it’s pop up.

Uh, no. There are still two separate Claw Island story parts. One involves your mentor dying (yes, they die no matter what). The part where you rescue Deputy Mira is also in that same instance.

The other takes place a few stories later, and that’s when you retake Claw Island. You probably just picked up your story at that step.

OP: Those events still exist, as far as I know. They only occur in specific areas of specific maps, though, and they can be easy to miss if you’re just running past the area.

The events definitely still exist. I was down in Bloodtide Coast yesterday and got the line from one of the risen mocking me about Tybalt dying.

I think, as RoseofGilead said, it’s only specific enemies that say it though, and they don’t do it every time, so it’s easy to miss.

I’ve had them happen in Bloodtide Coast and also in Dredgehaunt, right outside the dungeon entrance.

I did Claw Island recently and my mentor still died and I had to go find Mira and rez her. I do wish she would find somewhere else to die because rezzing her while getting pounced on by all of those mobs is extremely difficult.

Seiran’s is still there at least : After doing Claw Island last night, while I was mapping Blootide Coast in the area west of the south-eastern corner of the map (where that oasis is) today, the Risen Commander popped out to say they were going to plant me right next to Seiran.

I recently did my personal story, and had the enemy boss say this right after the first claw island, when i was defending Lions arch. I was in the priory and my guess is its in that first faction part right after claw island.

Ah so its still there. I just must not have been in the right places. Cheers!
